Hotel about to be demolished and replaced and it showsDo not go here. Went with crystal over new year. Hotel is shabby and rundown, beds are uncomfortable with one thin lumpy pillow . Cleaning consists of throwing cover on bed and emptying bin. Same dirt on floor all week and didn't even wipe a cloth round bathroom even when pointed out the thick Black gunk around the wastes on Bath and sink. Water was running through the ceiling in the dinning room and as couldn't find leak were not able to use our bathroom before breakfast or dinner. Also had plumbers walking on me in room when not dressed. This place is a bad joke. Food is bland and with bought in cold desserts, usually some kind of tart that has obviously been thawed out as base is soggy, no cream or any hot option on any night. Yes staff do try and help but basically no money is being spent as being knocked down and replaced. You know this as a rep keeps bringing groups of people to a locked room off the bar where they sell the new units. Talking of bar, shabby ripped seating, no curtains , no Christmas decorations except a half dead tree with one string of lights(never turned on) and not once during the whole week did they light the fire so no not a cosy alpine Lodge its a sad depressing experience that we were relieved to leave.

Excellent locationWe really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Le Christina. Yes, it's outdated and needs refurbishing but that's not going to happen since it's being demolished after this season to make way for apartments, sadly. We thought it was excellent value (half the price of the hotel we stayed in last year) with comfortable beds (though a thicker pillow would have been appreciated), good, plentiful food and very convenient boot and ski rooms. The atmosphere in the bar was pleasant and it had Sky TV. We would have liked to have WiFi in the room but could at least sit in the lounge bar to connect. It was very warm so that, having got thoroughly soaked on day 1, our clothes dried out in time for the next day's skiing. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we are sorry not to have the opportunity to stay there again next year.

Now it all makes senseStayed here last week. Now knowing that it is about to be pulled down, it all makes perfect sense. The hotel is on its last legs and the rooms in particular are very poor - narrow uncomfortable beds and a bathroom unchanged for probably 30 years. Water dripping through a light fitting outside the boot room will of course not get fixed either! But the staff were friendly and helpful and the location is very good and the food was better than OK. Shame about the weather!

Do Not Stay HereI returned yesterday from seven rather unpleasant nights at this hotel. I booked on 20th January just a few days before Susan H posted her review. I agree with all Susan H wrote and would not have booked had she posted her review sooner. As this hotel is about to be demolished it seems a little pointless to post this review as the staff now seem unconcerned with providing a service knowing there are just a few weeks left. Having read the reviews I knew that the hotel was not at its best and would no doubt be shabby what I did not expect was the filth that greeted us on our arrival and throughout our stay. We checked in on 8th February after lugging our bags and skis up a steep set of stairs to reception - surely someone could have mentioned we could have brought them in through a door leading to the ski and boot room where a lift connects to all floors of the hotel. We arrived in our "superior room" to find it had not been cleaned properly after the last occupants had vacated. It was obvious just by looking at the room but also the fact that the previous occupants had left some small change on the bedside table - I assume as a tip - and it was still there. The bedding was clean but the bed covers themselves were grubby. The towels were grubby and the bathroom dirty - Heaven knows when the tiles had last been cleaned they were covered in scum. There was initially only one low watt light bulb over the bathroom mirror and a hole where a second bulb should have been in the dark it really was dim. The TV reception was so poor it was not watchable and the chair was broken it is a wonder we did not plummet to the floor just heard the creaking in time as it came apart t the joints. When we returned from the first days skiing the room had not been cleaned or beds made and the bathroom had not been cleaned just the bin emptied and a spare toilet roll put out. We mentioned all this to the Crystal rep at the welcome meeting and he said he would ask for the room to be deep cleaned and bulb situation to be rectified but when we returned from skiing the second day nothing had been done. As for comments of the "friendly staff" posted by others this was not my experience as the manageress actually shouted and pointed at me in reception on day 2 for going to ask for the key in my ski boots. I needed to lock my skis in the locker and the key is on the same ring as the room key. I ignored her but after handing me the key she again shouted and said I could damage the hotel with my boots! I could hardly believe it as I had taken a few paces from the lift across tiles to the reception desk and on checking in she had actually advised me to use the lift between reception and boot room. The boot room stank and was filthy so I advised her that due to the smell I would not be changing my boots in there or keeping them there. There was in fact a mouldy sandwich in there just left on the side - further evidence of lack of cleaning. How she could suggest my ski boots could damage a hotel that was beyond being damaged further was quite bizarre. I complained further to the Crystal rep but little changed. We had an infestation of flies in the bathroom that did not seem to be coming from outside. After this second complaint the money was moved off the bedside cabinet and a second light bulb put in the bathroom but the better light just showed up the filth more! I felt with such lack of hygiene unable to face food at the hotel. My husband risked breakfast but I did not. we ate out most evenings and had a late lunch on the mountain other days to avoid the necessity of facing dinner which did not appear to be appetising and had a very limited choice and dubious hygiene. To be fair the bed was made on the last three days although the middle of those days the attempt was hilarious - the bathroom was cleaned to some extent on the final day in that the basin area was wiped round - I believe this was following crystal being in contact again with the hotel regarding cleanliness. On returning to our room after going out for a lovely valentines meal in town on our final night we found that the hotel had left two packed lunches for our journey as we had an early start and would miss breakfast. The pears were already rotting and when on the plane I got out the crisps and they were soft I looked at the sell by date to find 14th January a month out of date! This did give us a chuckle. The location whilst close to the slopes was not ideal as it was a way out of town but the main problem was accessing the slopes safely. The driveway to the hotel was quite icy most of the time and then it was a clamber up a steep bank of snow - no attempt by the hotel to create a safe access to the slopes. The safest way was a cut across the snow to the left of the ski locker room (where incidentally water drips through a lightfitting) or down the icy drive then left onto the street. This hotel is on its last legs, totally uncared for with a skeleton staff, Manageress, Barman and two girls - not all on at once sometimes two or at most three of them in the hotel at any one time. I could accept this shabbiness but what was totally and utterly unacceptable was the dirty and unhygenic state of the property. This hotel was not "cheap" and for not much more we could have stayed in a really nice hotel and would recommend that any people with bookings cancel if they can or if booked with crystal contact and see if they can move you. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and it was with great relief we left even though it was 4.40 am and down the icy driveway with our luggage!
