    All a facade

We had to share a toilet which was at the end of the hall. The toilet bowl is heavily stained. The hall lights did not work so very dark for a night time trip to the toilet. The shared shower room was downstairs. The room wall lights did not work. There were two ceiling lights, only one of them worked and the other did not even have a shade. Their was no mirror. There was 3 of us sharing the room but only one cup, no teaspoon and no milk. There were no hangers in the wardrobe. There was a T.V table but no T.V. Located on main road and therefore very noisy. No double glazing.I think this property would be more suitable for students and backpackers who don't might slumming it . I did not see any fire escape regulations, certainly there was none in the room. I did try to speak with the young girl who welcomed us but there was a bit of a language barrier and she said the man who ran the place was not on site. I feel that the mark of 5.4 which has been calculated from my answers is too high. I would give this place 3 out of 10.

    Avoid if at all possible

A dreadful place to stay. Whilst being conveniently located, there is nothing else to say that is positive. You have to pay before you see the room,in my case it was totally unacceptable. No shower, no towels provided, filthy, smelly and heating going flat out making it unbearable. I went to see the receptionist and he said he would come up in 5 minutes to sort out the problems. 10 minutes later I went back down and reception was closed (at 7.30 pm) and he had gone. I called the mobile number and he made up a story about a plumber coming out and hung up. I tried to ring him back but he just kept hanging up. The room was so bad, I went somewhere else for the night. I am trying to get a refund, but no one is at the property on reception and if I ring he hangs up. I know you get what you pay for in life, but this accommodation is awful. Stay that at your own risk

Don't be misled by photos...its filthy!

OMG where do i start... This is not a hotel, its like a half way house for druggies and alcoholics. we arrived late in the evening to no one to greet us although id emailed and text messaged the number provided the day before and the day we were due to arrive,we were greeted at the front door by two chaps smoking weed who quickly explained to me and my 3 children that the guy that runs the place went home at 6.30 like he always does and would have probably thrown our key on the desk because thats what he usually does (their words not mine) these guys were workmen that used the place 'to get their head down' again their words not mine. the front door is always open so there told us to go in and have a look for our key which we did. the front desk is a computer desk on the landing full of paperwork and scrap bits of paper. walking up the stairs told us all we needed to know it was absolutely filthy there is no way that its been hoovered in the last week or had a duster over anything in the last few months, someone had drawn all up the walls with a crayon, there were holes in the room doors where it looked like someone had kicked them in, its very hard to describe what state this place is in it should be on a tv series or something. id already decided at this point there was no way was we sleeping there regardless of what delights awaited us in the room, we found a key on the table so assumed it had been left for us so off we went to find the room... the noise coming from the other rooms sounded like parties were going on with people running in and out the rooms half dressed and half cut (drunk/stoned) and they were staring at us as if we had 10 heads it was very intimidating. we found the room which the key belonged too and opened the door... i wish i hadnt lol.. it stank of weed, windows wide open, bed un made or changed from the previous guest, dirty half filled cups on the side drawers, floor had tissues and crisp packets on it. now either id got the wrong room or the owner had forgot we were coming. we quickly went outside to find the two weed smoking workers still out there and started to laugh when i came out with a few choice words. they encouraged me to call the guy who ran the place to see what was happening but did say ' he wont answer he never does'...i rang 3 times before he finally called be back 30 mins later and by this time id already found somewhere else to stay... see my other review, palace court hotel'... if you are homeless and have no alterative place to stay then maybe you would stay here but personally id rather sleep on the street.... i wouldnt let my dog stay here let alone my family! refund requested but ive been ignore so ive requested a refund through booking.com.

    Do not recommend

I stayed here for one night whilst a family member was in hospital. The building was difficult to find, yet when I did I was met with a smashed glassed window on the exterior of the property. Although the staff were friendly, I was told I needed to pay in cash as the card machine was broken. As I was only using the room to sleep in for one night, I was not bothered that the facilities were basic, however upon coming back tired from a long day I had a bad nights sleep due to noise and did not feel safe staying here alone. The shared bathroom was dirty and so I avoided it as much as possible, you would not of wanted to shower in there. The only positive is the location, close to shops and for me, the hospital.
