    Accommodation okay - noisy

I wish I had read the reviews here before booking. £80 for a nice room but it was not quiet - I could hear the TV from the adjoining room and the walls were paper thin. Really disappointing and certainly not work the extra money. To describe it as a country club is a bit of a stretch of the imagination or I was not told about the facilities.... Book somewhere else that is more reasonably priced or reflect what you have paid.

    Good food, but thin walls

Room is clean and comfy - but there was a strange smell, which later I figured out to be coming from the bathroom drain. As I was only there for one night, it was just about manageable, but not if you're staying there for long! Dinner at the pub was really good, service was great. The room walls are VERY thin, you can hear everything that's happening in the next rooms. I had to knock on the door of the room behind mine to ask the guy to turn down his TV volume!

    Will take some beating !

We used Lumb Farm as a base whilst we toured the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales for a few days. The room was in the middle of a row of three and despite what other reviews have said we didnt hear much noise at all even though we werent far from the entrance and car park. The room itself was modern, light and airy and remarkably cool seeing as it was the hottest week of the year so far (35 degrees) but didnt have air con. The breakfast was lovely and had enough choices to suit most tastes, special mention to the fresh fruit salad. We also ate in the restaurant on two separate evenings and whilst the choice was limited the standard was exceptional. I highly recommend Lumb Farm whether its for leisure or a stopover for work, the staff are very friendly and the attention to detail in the rooms was outstanding

    Outstanding family Hotel

We stayed here for a few days in mid October, this place is a little gem. A family run business who could not do enough for you to make your stay as comfortable as possible. From the minute we arrived to when we left Kendall and her staff were fabulous. The spacious room was very clean & comfy, yes when you opened the blinds you saw a concrete wall of an alleyway but who sits in their room all day staring out of a window. The Breakfast had a large selection to choose from & plenty of tea/coffee I choose the full English it was always piping hot and plentiful. A well stocked bar and a good range of beers on tap. The restaurant menu fora small hotel was quite extensive & the food first class. If you want a base to explore the Peak District this place is perfect. We will definitely look to stay here again. Thank you Kendall & your team. Doug & Cheryl

    Not a country club!

Lumb farm is a old farmhouse extended and used as a bar /restaurant and function space. Accommodation is comprised of a couple of rows of single storey relatively new rooms next to the farmhouse . Yes it is in the countryside but calling it a country club is probably against the trades description act ! On the positive side the rooms have all modern facilities and are clean and the décor is to a good quality. Bathroom/wetroom is large with high pressure hot shower. However the room was a bit soulless. No pictures on the wall, no chair to sit in , no room info ( especially about how to work the digital heaters). The 'view ' from the window was of a concrete alley and a breeze block wall. Wi fi was good . The public areas are also quiet and a bit dead on a weekday evening . Menu was standard pub food but was OK at an OK price . Staff were generally pleasant, Breakfast had to be ordered the night before but came freshly cooked with hot strong coffee. Overall provided a service /board and lodgings for the night and was convenient for my morning meeting the next day .
