    Excelente hotel

The worst 5 stars service ever

I stayed at the Lotte Hotel in Busan with my girlfriend from the 1st to the 4th of May. We was supposed to stay in a Resort in Gyeongju but they canceled our reservation without any kind of notice and we knew it only once arrived there at 7 pm. So we searched for another available Hotel and as we choosed to move away from Gyeongju we looked for Busan. The Lotte Hotel was available but to make it easier I had my girlfriend call them so she could arrange a deal speaking directly in Korean. We asked for the family deluxe because was indicated on the various site I checked to have a whirlpool tub. They also asked for a further confirmation as the room was for 3 people while we was only 2. They gave us a price and we jumped in the car arriving at the hotel for 9:30 pm. At our arrival after a good evening without any effort they just spoke with my girlfriend in Korean almost completely ignoring me despite it was me to give them the credit card they was using for the deposit. We enter the room and no whirlpool tub, we call to ask why and they reply telling that there is no wjirlpool room in the whole hotel (but the websites checked was indicating that type of room had it). We check on the hotel webite and we find out that there are some suite that have that kind of tub. We ask for it and they say that they are not available due to che COVID situation (understandable but as always telling the truth at the beginning is always the best policy). The morning after we go for the breakfast at around 9:15 and we find an endless line that was maiking it impossible to enter the restaurant before they was closing the breakfast time. Every time we was going back and forth from the hotel we was greeted almost exclusively in Korean and I was constantly ignored if not for some quick good morning or good evening. The day after we managed to make it in time to have the breakfast included because we woke up quite early so we planned to go for the opening time that at the check in has been told us it was 6:30 (and also on the information card was indicated the same time)...but it was closed,,,5 minutes...10 minutes...after we asked at what time it was supposed to open and they told us 7 am. We entered the restaurant for the breakfast and again only korean greetings and words to y girlfriend and barely a good morning to me. Also when they was coming to take the orders they just referred to her speaking only in korean, asking her also for my choice for the drink I wanted. They hardly was removing the empty plates from the table and when they did it the waitress was removing also the plate I used for the croissants while I was still taking from the plate the last bite almost pulling it away from my hands. The day after we decided to try the chinese restaurant as that day was raining and we ordered a set menu. Nothing special, the sauce of the crab dish was completely invaded by the garlick, but what has been terrible also this time has been the service. As always not a single word in english for me and they was only and exclusively relating with my girlfriend in korean. And the last dish I have been served before the fruit plate was completely tasteless so after a small taste I completely left it. When it has been the time to ask if we wanted the fruit to be served and if they could remove the dishes not a single word about why I was leaving mine completely untouched. The day we was going to leave I showed them at the check out, before the bill was issued, an official card from the korean government that grants me the VAt exemption only in hotels and restaurants and the bill I was going to pay was exactly the hotel and the restaurants inside the hotel. They refused to allow me that privilege granted by the korean government because the call to reserve the room (a simple call, there was not a single written document nor any other thing on her name and however the call is not a document that goes to the korean tax office as proof that we didn't have the right of the VAt exemption). When I had them notice that every single payment as well as the deposit taken at the beginning of our stay was don with my credit and debit card and that i was however one of the two guest they just shaked the shoulders as a sign of indifference and repeated again a sorry even without any convinction. I have to say honestly that apart from the tub issue I described at the beginning the room were clean and comfortable but as the reason why 2 people was booking a triple room was exclusively the whirlpool tub, and we told them repeatedly since our first call to block the room, and that room didn't have it it was already their first and big mistake that lowered my opinion on the service level. And in a 5 star hotel whenever there is a mixed couple no matter what but the service should be provided in a language comprehensible for both while in this way, other than lacking in respect for me, one of the two guests, the lacked in respect also for my girlfriend almost forcing her to become a translator and actually work for them instead of treating her as a guest. In the restaurants the service level should be appropriate to the level and is close to indecent that any waiter and waitress barely know from which side to serve or pour the water, when and how to remove the empty plates and how to manage a customer that leaves untouched a full dish...and is not ignoring the thing not even asking why i was leaving it. All in all if you have no problem at all with the korean language and what you care is only the room i can suggest it even if there are better hotel in Busan with room at the same level of comfort in a better position to have a walk arround and with more reasonable prices and excellent services...at least english speaking. But if you are looking for a 5 star hotel and all that it should mean and involve absolutely avoid it, the service is terribly far from what should be a low level service of any other 5 star hotel in the world.
