Longhua Hotel in Changsha-Exquisite and Luxurious!

We were delightfully surprised at how magnificent the Longhua Hotel appeared when we arrived. Evrything here was first class and great service too from the staff. The room was very comfortable, clean and well serviced during our stay here. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Changsha and beyond that vicinity.

One of the best hotels in China

As an investment banker I travel through China on a regular basis. The rooms, the services and bar are among the best hotels I've stayed at in China. If you're in Changsha, this is the hotel to choose!

    Frustratingly incompetent and slow

This hotel tries hard to present itself as an efficient business hotel. However my experience was not altogether a happy one. Firstly, they require 2000 rmb deposit. If you don't have the cash, they charge it to your credit card but this won't be refunded for up to 5 business days after checking out. Other hotels I have stayed in process the refund on the day of check-out. Because of this, I chose to pay cash for the deposit but to get the full amount back took over 20 minutes. They wanted to deduct the cost of the room from the deposit but I wanted to charge the full amount to my company credit card - they appeared to never have had this request before and it took several minutes of arguing before I finally received my full 2000 deposit back. Secondly, it seems to take 4 people to do the job of one person. I understand China needs to find employment for its vast population but this was ridiculous. One person to photocopy my passport, one person to process the room deposit, one person to fill in the check-in form, one person to translate my queries such as breakfast location and time. Each person took around 10 minutes to complete their part of checking me in and the whole process could not be done at the same time. That is, the photocopy person had to complete her bit before the deposit person could do hers and so on. The whole check-in process took over half an hour - after a long flight this was very frustrating. The room itself was uncomfortably warm. I tried to turn the air-con down as it was set to 23 deg but even pressing 16 deg, it defaults back to 23. Luckily the room has a window which I could open to let in some air. The staff at the fitness centre took no notice of me and continued playing their computer games on their phones. I didn't even get a towel. Again no air con in the gym but the windows were open to let in smoke wafting from a room next door! I can only assume this was a staff room of some sort but it seems crazy to allow smoking adjacent to a fitness centre. My minibar fridge was locked. I had to ring house-keeping to unlock it so I could put in some refreshments I had bought from home and guess what I found - a pack of durex! (and no alcohol, which by this stage I badly needed). Then the same scenario for check out! Even though I advised I had a plane to catch, it took forever and Chinese nationals who were also staying in the hotel would push in front, wave their room key and get seen to ahead of me. Extremely annoying that they don't have an ordered queue system in place. Although there's nothing wrong with the location or standard of breakfast, I will not tolerate bureaucracy and incompetent staff. Business travel is difficult enough without having to put up with unnecessary travails. I have to return to Changsha next April but will be looking for alternative accommodation.

Best Hotel we have stayed at!

We have stayed in many Chinese Hotels but this one was light years ahead of the pack. Fro the time our cab arrived until check out it was seamless and professional. Beautiful decor, great rooms with views, very helpful staff and a breakfast buffet the equal of any 5 star Hotel we have seen. Highly recommended.
