  We held a two-day conference at Lombardy and were really happy with the conference room, the set-up, the teas and lunch and the general feel of the conference centre itself. However the dinner was also disappointing: mediocre food, no stock of the wines we ordered, and a long wait. The tablecloths were full of holes, the table setting was sparse and there was a fireplace but no fire despite this being one of our key asks given the cold weather. The lights were mismatched and the ambiance was awful as they couldnt dim the lights. And then the bedrooms: we were given keys (not room cards) which did not work in the locks, only on the outside sliding doors. The key card pads were apparently not yet working as some parts were still on order from overseas.There are no 2 prong plugs in any of the rooms so nowhere to charge cell phones or plug in the room hairdryers. There is no excuse for broken cupboard doors and shelves and really shabby furniture in a so called upmarket boutique hotel. We also had an unfortunate incident with one of the rooms we had reserved resulting in one of our delegates having to share a room with someone, sleeping on a kids' bed. The staff tried very hard but were under-resourced

  A disastrous decline in service.

  I am a regular guest at this hotel. During my last stay during mid July at the hotel, 1. I carried my own bags to the room. 2. I paid a R350.00 'key deposit' which I have never needed to do before. Despite 3 emails sent to this email address requesting the refund of the 'key deposit' the money has not been refunded. 3. There were no coffee capsules for the coffee machine. When I requested some coffee capsules nothing was done. I walked to reception to again ask for capsules. I was given Ricoffee sachets. 4. The shower leaks into the bedroom making the carpet completely wet. I reported this after my previous stay. 5. I requested that room service straighten my room and replace the wet towels early while I was eating breakfast as I had a guest arriving. This was not done. PLEASE REFUND THE KEY DEPOSIT INTO MY ACCOUNT TODAY. The bank details have been supplied in a previous email. PLEASE ASK THE HOTEL MANAGER TO CONTACT ME.

  Faulty Towers in Pretoria East

  Most of the hotel staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and uninformed, albeit that there are one or two exceptions. It was one of the worst check-ins I have ever experienced: waited 20 minutes to be helped, got no information on anything once we were assisted, didn't get any of the extras that was included in the package, the check-in lady was cold, disinterested and not at all apologetic for the problems. We were not the only patrons that received this service, and disgruntled guests in the reception area was a common sight. It set a bad tone for the stay. The rooms are mostly fine, although getting a bit dated. The hotel generally needs a bit more attention and care. Almost none of the food options on the restaurant menu are available, albeit that the food was surprisingly good. I would not return.

  Peaceful Spot but v close to Pretoria

  This is my favourite hotel in Pretoria because it feels like you are out in the country side due to the lovely grounds and peaceful ambiance and birds singing. 6 months of lockdown have not been easy for them but the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms spacious and well designed. Very good value too. If you want total luxury and perfection then you will need to pay a lot more than you do here. But for what they charge it is a lovely place to stay and lots of shops nearby too.

  Comedy of errors

  We were so excited to sleep away from the kids for our first romantic getaway in 9 years. What a disappointing experience. When we first arrived nothing was prepared. We had to shower without towels. We ordered water which we never received. We asked for a jacuzzi but we got a bath that didn't even work. I'm not one to complain.... But eish! The next day cleaning team barged into the room while we were still sleeping and breakfast was late.
