A lovely spa hotel in Langenlois

A lovely hotel in a beautiful wineyards area. Great room, very good breakfast and the swimming pool was gorgeous. Also had a good massage there. Many areas for resting and enjoying the view. Surely will return there.

Loisium Wine and Spa Resort - Eat, Drink and Sleep Wine

At the centre of the Kamptal region in Lower Austria, on the edge of the picturesque town of Langenlois, in the middle of wine country, sits the Loisium Wine and Spa Resort (LWSR). It is an innovative concept: a winery for wine-lovers all wrapped up in an outstanding architectural approach. The LWSR is structured into 4 components, a hotel with an elegant spa, the vineyards, the wine museum complex and the underground caverns. As I approached the LWSR, a giant rubiks cube styled box made of aluminum and glass, rears it head up out of the centre of the vineyard that traipses up to it like spokes in a wagon wheel. This structure forms the basis of the Wine Cellar World museum. My tour of the museum and underground caverns was enlightening. The entrance to the caves, where 900 year old barrels are stored, seemed like an underground well which ushered in a water and laser show that embellished the tour. From here the tour took on a cave discovery aspect with stops to view elements of the winery, its storied history as well as the evolutionary process of wine making along with a unique exposition which visualized a grape on its path from harvest to finished wine. After the tour, I had an opportunity to taste 4 wines with commentary by a wine expert. As a complete neophyte, this session provided me with insights into wine appreciation. The trekking tour through the lovely surrounding vineyard was more like a hike to match up grapes with the wine they produced. The main LWSR grape variants here are a citrusy Gruners and mineral rich Riesling, both of which are produced on a scale from bone dry to syrupy sweet. The LWSR adheres to a biodynamic winemaking approach which engages an increasingly environmentally sensitive and labor-intensive form of agriculture....no fertilizer here. This approach reflects well for their award-wining wine quality. The hotel, is spacious, along with architecture and decor that is saturated in an 'all things wine' motif. From the top to the bottom of the building, the interior portrays the wine theme so vigorously that it is hard to tell where the vineyards end and the hotel begins. Rooms are outfitted in tones of grape, green and red, and airy windows overlook the vineyard and wonderful rural scape. Minibars are stocked with (Think: wine). No need to count sheep to go to sleep here, just count the wine bottles. The LWSR features an outstanding year-round heated pool, a fitness centre and a spa which provides wine-therapy treatments (How about a grape facial). Guests are privy to tours, seminars and wine tasting at the museum next door. So, if you want a totally immersive wine experience, accompanied by a creatively designed hotel and spa....try Loisium Wine & Spa Resort...Eat, Drink & Sleep Wine.

    Hot summer, hotel construction

Hotel doesnt have air conditioning system (only air cooling system which can bring down temperature by 4 c) so expect warmer room temperatures in summer. Loisium is extending its Hotel so we were overlooking a construction site when visiting with crane noise during day. Also compared to last visit one can now use Hotel facilities In the afternoon after checking out for a fee only.

    If you drink enough...

If you drink enough of the wonderful Grüne Veltliner of the Kamptal region You might also enjoy this hotel. Then you wont mind that they praise the great vineyard-view of their highest category rooms and then you end up with a view on a construction site right in front of your balcony. You also wont mind if you wait in front of the restaurant for 10 minutes to be seated and then dont get any attention for 20 minutes once you sit on an outdoor table wich has so much spotlight on, that you think you are in an exhibition hall. You also cant be bothered by the Menu that shows quite limited but extraordinarily heavy choices, like pork belly or Wienerschnitzel. And you wont mind at all that your remarks about this are simply ignored by the staff. The new room, which we got after our view complaints had an air-condition which did not cool and on the first day they simply forgot to clean it,- also not after we reminded them. Finally,- they charged the full price of the premium room category although we stayed in a down graded room, which we accepted due to the construction site. We had a lot of the great wine of this wonderful region.... but we also found other hotels for next time.

    Surprisingly unclean

This was my first business trip since the lockdowns started. I was really excited to going back to a hotel. I was expecting that the rooms would be spotless. I arrived in the morning and my room was not ready. This meant that it had been occupied the night before. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable but i shrugged it off thinking that they disinfected between guests. My room was not as clean as i thought it would be. there was hair from the last guest or from the staff in the bathroom when i entered. The mirrors also did not seem clean. I was there for a workshop with colleagues and i have to admit that the reason i gave 3 stars was for the food. I am Vegan and they were advised that there would be Vegans in our group, and the food was really good. The service , on the other hand, was extremely slow. Even with a preset menu, 1 hour was not enough for lunch. The wait was quite long. They are also understaffed at the bar area. We sat outside for a long time before we were told someone would come for drink orders, but since we were. Big group, the waiters simply took care of the tables with less amount of people. In the end, we went back inside without having any drinks. The staff at reception was extremely friendly. The disinfectant gel that they have everywhere smelled amazing as well. There is a lot of construction going on around the hotel, the views can be obstructed.
