    Good hotel

stayed two days at this hotel. situated almost directly at the franco/Italian border.. also next to a bar tabaco . the fountain in front of the hotel should be with drinking water from the mountains, I've been told.

    Boutique Hotel

Lovely hote,l part of the Logis group, great position for us, though it is a walk of a mile into the old town along the promenade. This is past the newer marina of two, beaches, and at least 10 restaurants, bars and cafes, at their edge. Two of the best / priciest restaurants - tends to mean the same thing - are by this marina, looking at the multimillion £ yachts and boats. These are Port Garavan and Le Galion. Starters 15, main courses 25. However if you want to push the boat out, Miraval is a 5-10 minute walk up hill from the hotel and this has consistently been a top 10 in the World eaterie in recent years. Here it's 110 for a ~10 course tasting meal, and 70 for the recommended wines, per person. There's a nice view in the photos. We didn't go, as we thought they'd need a bit of notice, as it was the weekend! Maybe next time. Back to the hotel. We stayed in their 2 suites, as we couldn't get all 4 nights in the same room. The only suite, or room (?) with a sea view is this one, as it's a narrow building stretching back from the Porte de France, is Mer & Monts. The loo and lounge were 2 closeable doors away from the bedroom, which was perfect for my wife - good noise and other senses insulation! Sadly there was no balcony to sit on, but you could swing the shuttered windows wide open, and do a Life of Brian to the French-Italian border about 400m away. Don't have this room if you're a light sleeper as the road noise isn't kept out too well by the double glazed doors. But we slept well after a night of good food, walking in the fresh air, and Provence Rose'. What marks the room down were some grubby stains on the silk throw thing that lies across the bed. Showing a lack of attention to detail. The shower only bathroom had one of these stand up massage blaster type sprays from the sides-painful ! - a shower head on a hose - and a rainfall type shower overhead. I'd always thought they looked good, however they're impractical as you've got to turn it off to soap up. Not too great a hardship really. The other room, Privilage, we had for one night out of four and was large and very pleasant. Has a bath, and an even more complicated shower/blaster arrangement. It lies over the terrace where breakfast is served where guests talking may be a problem for some, but we were fairly early risers anyhow. There is a bit of noise from the coastal railway line between France and Italy only 100m away as the crow flies, but we're used to that as we virtually live on the London Waterloo to South West England line. Not too great a hardship really. Both beds in both rooms were extremely comfortable. The Continental breakfast provided everything we needed for a good start to the day. The plus point here is that Menton Garavan railway station is a 5 minute walk away and all the 30 odd trains a day from Nice or Ventimiglia stop there. It's 15 minutes to Monaco and 40 minutes to Nice. Another plus point of the hotel is the staff. Very friendly with good Franglais translation skills. We arrived by train from Nice Airport, via Nice Gare, at ~22:30, and were met by the manager. When my wife groaned when we heard there were no tea making facilities in the rooms - we'd brought our own Extra strong breakfast teabags - we thought that was that, and we'd raid the minibar. However 10 minutes later while necking a glass of Rose' and some M&M's, a knock at the door came. On opening it, there was the manager smile beaming across his face, holding a tray of tea for two!! There is not normally a room service, service. You must realise I have already mentioned all the facilities the hotel has. There is a lounge on the first floor overlooking the seafront, with a balcony you could just squeeze a few chairs onto. Another highlight for us was visiting the Val Rahmeh Gardens. On our side of the Old Town, just 10 minutes walk away, half of the walk being up a steepish hill, was this oasis of peace and calm. Not that life is pretty frenetic here outside of it. No larger than 2-3 acres as the crow flies its no Wisley. But, and maybe we were here at a good time of the year by chance, it was beautiful. A winding path stretches out the time, so allow 1-2 hours of slow meandering. Sadly you'd struggle to do most of it in a wheelchair. Again it's no Wisley as there's no cafe, and it closes for lunch, I suppose as it's run by volunteers, to give them a rest. However at 10am on a Saturday morning in May, there were just the two of us and a family of 6 in the whole garden! A few other recommended gardens are on this side of the Old Town but have limited opening days, and we didn't get to them. Another highlight of the hotel's position is being on bus routes to the main bus station in Menton. And the Number 18. This bus runs along the coast and down into Monaco. It is air conditioned, costs 1.50, and I haven't missed out a decimal place there, and takes an hour. It would normally take 5 minutes to the Jean Cocteau museum on the sea front at the Old Town, but we were held up in a rare traffic jam, as the tree surgeons were pruning the palm trees along the way. So this is a lovely small hotel, great position and staff, let down a little by reduced levels of cleanliness and noise insulation. Wi-Fi is poor. But we would be back there in a blink of the eye if we could. And we will.

    Fine experience

The ambience was as good as we remember from previous stays and the location, near Villa Maria Serena, is perfect for us. Ample breakfast and kind service made us enjoy company with friends and colleagues.

Paris-Rome, the best of both worlds !

We stayed here for one night and the purpose of the trip was to watch the Lemon Festival in Menton. February 2018 must have been the wettest Lemon Festival ever. We even had to change our booking from a Thursday to Sunday because the Thursday show was cancelled. The hotel was kind enough to let us move our reservation from the previously booked Thursday to Sunday. This hotel is not in the centre of Menton, if you take the train form Nice to Menton, you should get off Menton Garavan station. It is much calmer to stay here than in the centre, and it only takes half and hour to get to the centre of town. We were tired when we came home and realized that there were no tea making facilities in the roon, so we mentioned that to the manager and even though it was the end of his shift, he came over with a jug of hot water and two beautiful tea cups with a lemon motifs. Breakfast is served in a beautiful salon, you have of courses croissants with jam, yoghurt etc. The rooms are lovely, I think we stayed in the Buddha room because we had a huge stautue of budddha in our room. The bathroom was newly renovated and very beautiful. They give you of course soap, shampoo, cotton buds and cotton wool, body lotion for your stay. The rooms are well insulated, we did not hear a thing and slept like logs till the next morning. There is a lovely lounge where you can relax and read, or watch TV. All in all , a very good stay.

Cheap, Aircondition works, No internet, mediocre room service

We stayed here for 1 week. These are the things we experienced. Room ok, Aircondition works (thank g for that), Bed very nice, No minibar. The hotel is perfect if you aren´t going to use your time in the hotel room. We also noticed that they didnt change the bedspread during our whole stay, which is quite nasty.. 20 minutes from the city centre!!!
