    We'll be back

We have stayed in many hotels/motels, and for the money, we were very satisfied with The Lodi Valley Suites. We were checked in by a friendly guy named Jerry. He was happy to show us the room before we checked in. The room was clean, beds were very comfortable, had a microwave and refrigerator. WiFi worked very well, TV channels were short if you want to watch ESPN etc. We had a good night's sleep and will definitely stay here again when we are in Lodi and need a room.

    Like coming home

Staying at Lodi Valley Inn is a pleasure, Karen and Roj are good hosts and are always available if there is a need. They are pleasant and helpful. The hotel is comfortable and homey. Room and bed were comfortable and clean. Bathroom was clean. Continental breakfast could be less austere. When returning to Lodi we definitely would stay again. The Waddle Inn, bar next door, is definitely worth a look too.

    Smelly room, rude owner

The carpet felt dirty, the pillows distinctly smelled of mildew. We were there for two nights for an event and did not have time until day 2 to tell the owner. She demanded to come up to the room, and then when I showed her one of the pillows, just kept saying "this don't smell like nothing!" We didn't want to bother with finding new accommodations, since other family members (our ride to the airport) were also in the hotel. Also: the only ice machine was broken, the "continental breakfast" consisted of coffee (sitting on a hot plate possibly all night) (no milk) and gas station pastries, and the "conditioning shampoo" was the worse I'd ever used in a hotel. When wifi was down, we called the front desk to have them reset it at 8:30 - the owner said it might take an hour because she was not at the hotel yet. AVOID!

    Anniversary ride

Very nice Motel. Rooms were clean and the owners where awesome. They referred us to a few places to eat including the pizza place next door. After dinner I sat outside with the owners and chatted for about a hour. Nice place and nice people.

    Getting worse?

We have stayed at this motel almost every year for at least 20 years. Location is the reason we keep coming back, there is nothing else that would draw a person back. This year seemed that the place is sinking even lower. We had to ring a bell to get someone to come to the front desk. When the owner finally came, she was barefoot and looking like we'd just woke her up from a nap. The room smelled bad, as expected. TV--it was one of those old big ones with a remote that didn't work. And, as our yearly joke goes, the ice machine is STILL out of order. There is a fridge in the room, as well as a hairdryer, but I didn't see an ironing board. I didn't go into the pool area, but from a distance it looked a little murky. The sheets on the bed were wrinkled and definitely not "crisp". This is a place you just have to think positive. In the morning we got to see the male owner crawl out, also looking very disheveled, to put the coffee on at just past 8am. That's about it for breakfast. On the positive side, the location has gotten even better. There is a new, very nice and friendly bar on one side, no food, not connected to the hotel. One the other side a new pizza place that is really good and has a full bar. We were also able to walk into downtown Lodi, about a 20 min walk, which was the reason for choosing this place.
