Lovely welcoming hotelWere lucky enough to take advantage of reduced prices at this hotel available at the moment. Arrived around 5 o'clock to be welcomed by the manager. Hand sanitiser at the door and masks requested when moving about, the staff all wearing masks and clear Covid directions and precautions set out in each room. Our room was a lovely ground floor with a balcony onto the tabled lawn. The breakfast was very nice with a selection of all the expected cereals and cooked items available. I'm a traditionalist and enjoyed a good Scottish breakfast each morning, The hotel is currently being run by the owners, a manager and limited kitchen staff. We ate in their restaurant each night, please see the separate review. It was really nice to sit and relax in the lounge for a few drinks after dinner and had some nice chats with the manager Craig, and other guests. There are some really nice walks directly from the hotel. The circuitous walk around Loch Kinord is about 4.5 miles and gentle. This can be incorporated with the amazing geological features at Burn O'Vat. The Deeside way is accessible directly across the road and it's a short drive to Ballater or Aboyne. We felt safe and welcomed. We could not have chosen a better hotel for a few relaxing days away.

Short breakWith our ski trip cancelled and with likely UK lockdown looming, a stay in a scenic area was a good idea! We had long walks each day we were there, in pleasant sunshine. The welcome was lovely, the room was good, it was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was great. We had one meal in the hotel, which was very good indeed. The hotel was quiet - just before the lockdown - and meals were not available each night at that stage. The proprietors and manager looked after us very well with good packed lunches made up for us every day. The bar was relaxing for a nightcap of an evening. It was a bit like a few days of time travel - the walks we did were quieter than usual and we saw and heard plentiful wildlife. The weather was excellent (that always helps!) and the food very good. We knew we were going home to some stock-up shopping and a lot of staying put so the experience was extra special.

Short stayUnfortunately we only stayed in this lovely area for 24hours. We found this hotel online, but because the details were a little vague, made contact by phone. The person that answered the phone, presumably the owner, was helpful. On arrival, we were made to feel welcome. Unfortunately the restaurant in the hotel was closed that evening, but the owner phoned a couple of places and made reservations for us in a hotel, in a small town approximately six miles away. Our room was upstairs & overlooked the garden, it was an acceptable size, as was the bathroom. The room was clean and well looked after, as was the rest of the hotel. The bed was comfortable, there was a hospitality tray, I also noted an iron & ironing board for the longer stay residents. There was a good selection for breakfast which was cooked well and served in a traditional style dining room. Overall, it is a lovely hotel & I would certainly stay there again.

Lovely overnight stayWe had an overnight stay on Sat 29th August. My husbsnd had booked a room as a surprise for my birthday. Not our first visit to the hotel but it has been a few years. We found it to be all very well organised for these Covid times. Staff were very welcoming on our arrival. Our room was at the top of the Hotel and we had a separate sitting area which was lovely. We ate in the Restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Excellent service from the friendly waiter. We had a great nights sleep in the comfy bed. Breakfast the next morning was delicious with plenty of choice. A very enjoyable night away. I highly recommend Loch Kinnord Hotel and we will definitely be back.
