    DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

Our first impressions were that the Locanda Rossovino had been abandoned the previous year - the gardens were either overgrown or dead and the swimming pool looked like a toxic waste spillage. After wandering around the grounds, which appeared to be completely deserted, for 10 minutes we finally spotted a member of staff who led us in to the restaurant to check in (which also looked abandoned). He did not speak English and so with the help of the Google translate app, we managed to work out that someone would be arriving at 2pm next day who could speak English. He then led us to our room with no more information. There was no mention of whether the restaurant was functioning, or what time breakfast (if it was available at all) might be served, or any information about the facilities within the resort at all. We do not presume every Italian must speak English, but due to this barrier perhaps a sheet in the room with this simple information written on would have been suitable? We were left completely alone, with no idea what was going on. The room itself also looked and smelt abandoned. The walls were cracked in places and peeling, and the lampshade was broken. The whole resort was strewn with children's toys, and in our bathroom we found children's bath toys, as though the rooms were being lived in. Above the door of the bedroom was a large hole in the ceiling (see pictures) which was very disconcerting. The bed was uncomfortable and the musty smell made it feel dirty and very old. We decided to walk around the grounds of the hotel to explore a little. Perhaps the sauna and the views may offer some relief. Imagine our surprise to find the sauna in pieces on the ground, garden furniture strewn here and there, rotten canopies in the seating area, and no care whatsoever to the upkeep of the resort. The surrounding buildings were actually derelict/falling down (see pictures). On closer inspection the pool was thick with algae and resembled a badly maintained garden pond. The surrounding lavender beds were dead. There were no other no other guests or staff at all. We genuinely felt as though the resort must be closed for business, and there had been some awful mistake with our booking. Thank goodness for modern technology - within two hours we had found an alternative hotel. We explained the hotel was nowhere near up to standard and that we were leaving to the only staff member. He did not seem to care and led me to the door. Due to having to leave the Locanda and find alternative accommodation, we incurred considerable expense that we had not accounted for. The whole event was stressful and disappointing. This resort was disused and disgusting, and should not have been available to book on Expedia or Trip Advisor. It should be removed so that further bookings cannot be made. The owners of the Locanda Rossovino should be ashamed and embarrassed.

    Excelente lugar

Fabulous place - quiet friendly atmosphere with gorgeous views

We stayed an extra night here and are so happy that we did. The owner is wonderful and welcoming. The location is bucolic with panoramic vistas. We relaxed completely here. It was slow when we were there and they still put out a beautiful breakfast spread for us. Their restaurant is a delight - the chef is creative and the food was beyond what we expected for this rustic location. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
