  Bizarre neighbourhood, good hotel

  This hotel is located in Thames Town, an extraordinary area that quite accurately mimics a London suburb! We stayed in this hotel to attend my brother's wedding. As it caters mostly to Chinese guests, the staff have limited English (better than our Chinese) so a little patience is required when checking in and out and ordering a taxi. The rooms are very well-furnished and comfortable, and the two restaurants serve very good food. The one thing that is lacking, at least from a European perspective, is a bar to sit in in the evening. This is not necessarily an area that one would visit as a tourist, but it is handy for the new Botanic Gardens and is a greener, more suburban area than the busy city of Shanghai.

  Very romantic.

  We found this hotel really romantic! The room was clean and really comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast very much. Although this hotel is a little "out of the way", it was nice to get away from noisy city center. I found it strange that there were no restaurants open inside the hotel, only during breakfast. Also, we didn't find any room service menu in our room. We will definitely go back here, and I hope next time we do the staff would speak better English.

  Era la segunda estadía nuestra, para nuestro aniversario de matrimonio. El hotel queda lejos de la ciudad, que es exactamente lo que buscabamos, alejarnos del ruido y el trajín. Es fácil llegar si se llega hasta la última estacion de metro y se toma taxi. La habitación es cálida, comoda, buena vista, buenas duchas y tiene una atmosfera de intimidad. Los desayunos son buenos, con harta fruta y con una oferta de salmon ahumado. Hay te del bueno y café también.

  Average hotel, clean and quiet

  Stayed here for three nights. Quiet hotel and very clean. For Chinese hotels a little more dated. The New Century hotel is more luxurious in the same district. English is OK. The restaurant works with IPADs so you can choose by pictures. Explaination is not possible, the people in the restaurant have very bad English. The food was pretty nice though. Location to the Thames centre is 5-10 minutes on foot. Be sure to have RMB's if you want to eat in that area, they only accept the local credit cards from Chinese banks. There is a money machine on the right side of the big square. Due to the more international character, I would prefer the New Century hotel, but this is also not bad.

  Riverside hotel along the river

  Stayed in Liston for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant stay. Nice low-level hotel inside Thames Town. Pros: - Comfortable beds (Firm enough for me) - No smell of smoke inside the non-smoking room - Safe inside the room - Good shower water pressure - Massage chair inside one of our rooms (but need wechat debit account to use it) - Polite and helpful (chinese-speaking) receptionist Cons: - Wifi needs constantly logging in each time we step out - Corridor area of our non-smoking level has the smell of smoke - Swimming pool is located in another building (They would provide free voucher) - Service crew switched off the lights sharp at 10am (bf end-time) in the restaurant even though we were still dining inside.
