Rustic Chinese Feel :)Unexpected from the moment you walk in. I feel I went back in time...somewhere in time but liking the feeling. Room is clean from where I stayed. Bathroom is not spunk and spank but it's ok. Internet is fast and cable is clear. They offer complimentary in-room drinks. It's walking distance to major places of interests and 85 Sky Tower.

Good enoughStay: 3D2N Nature: Business Conference Attended a 3000 pax conference held at 85 Sky Tower where rooms within 85 Sky Tower or nearby were either fully booked or over priced. Travel agent suggested Linsen instead, had not realised this was a motel until I arrived. I arrived around 1am due to a delayed flight and receptionist was impressively awake who appears to be waiting for me with all paperwork complete and key ready, this eliminated my initial concerns upon arrival at the front door where it wasn't brightly lit with massive hotel sign like normal hotels would have. This is a very old fashioned place where keys are truly keys not the electronic card type, facilities within however are updated: *Hairdryer *Free WiFi *LCD TV - remote didn't quite work *Mini fridge *Toilet essentials *Kettle with free tea and coffee I was only there for a weekend and most of my time was spent in 85 Sky Tower or nearby so cannot be sure of how convenient the place is for tourists but from the map it seems central enough. It was close to the limited night life scenes in Kaohsiung, almost walking distance for someone who doesn't walk. Local food was served for breakfast, incase you are not up for that like me they have bread, toaster and coffee. I recommend to explore places nearby instead if you are big on breakfast. Shower is installed within a bath tub without shower curtains or non-slip mat is the only downside, I however managed fine as I am very under sized for an adult, I sat in the tube holding the shower to keep water from splashing and held on handle bars in the tub for dear life when climbing outside of it. This might be a consideration for some. I want to add a comment about my sleep quality as I often have neck or back pains from not staying in my own bed, I found the pillows here are surprisingly comfortable, this is very personal but I am impressed with the just right hardness of the mattress and pillow! As I was on business trip, therefore I taxied everywhere and it wasn't too easy to grab one as it's not situated on a main street. The city planning of Kaohsiung is very good though so only a few minutes walk to the main street where it's easier to get ahold of a taxi. I had an overall pleasant stay but do not recommend families, if you are someone who spends a lot of time in your room or associate good stays to modern, white tiling crisp ironed bedding then this also isn't a good choice for you. Otherwise nothing wrong with here for a quick budget weekend.

A little bit of historyI've just arrived at the Linden, after a night in less salubrious circumstances in Taipei and it's simply lovely. There is a proper reception. On the ground floor at the entrance. A bit gloomy, but more olde worldly if you know what I mean? And then you take the lift to the 19th century. Inlaid wooden doors, and brass, and class. But with 21st century air-conditioning . Haven't tried the bed yet, but it's a good king size. And it's not costing an arm and a leg. In fact, on average, the nightly rate is £0.67 more than the hostel I stayed in last night in Taipei.
