    Lovely location but tired

I have just returned from this hotel, and this was my first visit to Rhodes. The hotel is in a beautiful location, beautiful views, and from the pictures it looked worthy of the 4* rating, and to be fair it has all the tools to achieve that, but it is tired, it needs an injection of money to bring it to that standard. Our rooms were basic, but ok, but very bad lighting. Lindos is very pretty, and it is a 5 to 10 minute taxi journey about 12 euros, beautiful place, and the bus service is quite reliable we went to Rhodes on the bus, it was about an hour journey, again Rhodes is definitely worth a visit especially the old town, full of history. This is an All Inclusive hotel, and I have never had an all inclusive holiday, so this was a first for me, I had heard a few horror stories about paper cups, and local drink, and thats basically what we were served, the white wine was a funny shade of orange, and not particularly pleasant, the lager was ok, i suppose, but nothing tastes good in a paper cup, the coffee was served in the same kind of container, and it was to hot to carry, spilling over the edges, it was very poor service. There was only one area to go in the evening, despite the fact there was a lovely bar as you came into reception but you had to pay for your drinks in there, and they were quite expensive, and it lacked any atmosphere, during our stay we didn't see anybody in that bar. There wasn't any entertainment, one night we had a karaoke, but nothing on the following nights. The hotel wasn't well lit, and there were 3 bar/pool areas one of which was beautiful and had views over the bay, but 2 of those were closed because it was almost the end of the season, so the only area open, was a small area, almost like a canteen, with very few seats it was awful. We were in a group of 10, we were disappointed, so we decided to go into Lindos most evenings, to be honest, we spent quite a lot of money on taxis and drinks, it was therefore pointless having all inclusive. I spoke to several other hotel guests, who said the same, and it was obvious that they were winding down for the end of the season. So I would recommend Rhodes and Lindos, but i really think the hotel rating needs to be reviewed, because it is not a 4*, and the fact that they are at the end of the season doesn't mean the service should be any different this is our holiday, and we should be provided with the same service no matter when we chose to visit.

    nice hotel

a nice hotel. Food was excellent and staff very good, especially Nikolatis in the restaurant. Themed a la carte was a bit disapponting and would not bother if I went again. The resort is a bit boring in that it is full of full board hotels and there only appears to be one independent taverna. Overall lacks character, but ideal place to go if you want to do nothing for a week. Do not bother going to Lindos unless you like crowds.

    Enjoyable late September holiday.

We upgraded our standard room to a suite (Room 2103) with a sea glimpse/main pool view. Food Great choice & of a good standard. Skip the a la carte and go out instead. The wine and beer at the tables were fine. Staff - All very helpful but possibly a little understaffed. Pools Many of the private pools are overlooked. The communal pools are open between 10am and 6pm. There were always sunbeds available. Entertainment Basic but we enjoyed the Greek and Rock night. We gave the bingo and quiz a miss. Theres an Italian Only kids entertainment. Drinks - Are served in paper cups (but a decent size). Perhaps take your own reusable cups? Bar staff are very accommodating. Points to note - Our room was clean but basic - no tea/coffee making facilities. Take you own hairdryer. Good air con. There is a 25 euro NON refundable charge for the safe. This hotel is part of a chain, we spent our first 3 days in a the Lindos Imperial Resort & Spa. If you are looking for a 5-star experience, book the far superior Imperial with no extra payment for the beach sunbeds, beach bar & restaurant. All drinks were of a higher standard (prosecco, proper glasses, quality spirits). Id rebook the Imperial but not the Royal. Hire a car for freedom. 10 days from Monza was 190 euros, fully comp, zero excess. No transfers needed. Beaches Thoroughly recommend the beaches on the East coast. Some good for families, others remote and quiet. Two sunbed/umbrella is between 8-12 euros/day.

    Relaxing End of Season Stay

Overall just as we had expected after reading reviews. I had e-mailed the hotel before our stay requesting free room upgrades as we were celebrating a 50th birthday in our party of 4 and had had a 60th birthday in June. We both were allocated swim up rooms which were great. They looked onto one of the pools with the slides so lovely and quiet early evening onwards and there were no rooms above us either so we were very happy. We weren't expecting air conditioning in October but our rooms had it. If you want a nice relaxing holiday I would recommend the Lindos Royal. It was a week away from the hotel closing for the season so not fully occupied therefore not all facilities as advertised. They only had 1 a la carte available which was the Greek, you book a table at Reception. There were great views from there but you have to pay for your drinks which with all inclusive disappointing. The food there was nice especially the meze starters and it was nice to have it served to you, a bottle of white wine there was 16 euros. I totally agree about the bar situation, a pool bar ok during the day but not what you want on an evening - drinking out of paper cups! There is a nice bar upstairs with glasses but you have to pay, This comes up all the time in reviews but the hotel are obviously not prepared to compromise on this. We weren't expecting any entertainment in October but during our week there they did have something laid on around the pool area for a few nights but some evenings people had to sit on sunbeds as not enough tables & chairs for everyone. Easy access to the beach, apparently sunbeds to pay for down there but we just went for a swim, sea warmer than the pools! The weather was a lovely 28 degrees with sunny days and a lovely non sticky temperature at night. We did have a thunder storm on our last night & had to move inside as even though outside restaurant area covered, spots of rain coming through. No apparent theme nights in the restaurant but always found something and food generally a good standard at lunchtime and evenings but could be hotter. You ordered your drinks from waiting staff, wine not a bad standard. A couple of cooking stations at night - 1 with a couple of pasta dishes. Breakfast the same most mornings, did have a cooking station on the first morning we were there with fried eggs & bacon but that stopped for breakfast after that but eggs & bacon available on the buffet, only 1 toaster on the go too. Coffee pot brought to your breakfast table each morning if you wanted it - tea was get yourself & sometimes struggled for a teapot! The restaurant has inside & outside tables and part of it was closed including another buffet section which is obviously open during the busier summer months. We travelled with Jet2 Holidays but struggled to find the information boards, found them by accident when taking a stroll around the hotel a few days in. After speaking to a Rep on our last morning, who happened to be in the restaurant, we mentioned this & were told Jet2 have requested information made available in reception as to location of boards but the hotel have declined. Also at check-in it would be nice to have a map of the hotel & grounds, our Rep said they do have them at Reception but don't seem to give you it at check-in! We ordered a taxi into Lindos via reception but very busy there. Nothing really close by the hotel to walk out to at night but again if you do your research you already know this. Would not go back to the hotel as not enough to draw me back but it was our first time to Rhodes & I would definitely go back but to a different resort. There is a 5* hotel almost fully completed next door so Lindos Royal maybe need to have a revamp. Couple of shops on site and a couple of supermarkets within walking distance. Few pools to choose from, we mainly used the Adult only which had comfier sunbeds, no problem getting one at this time of year. Staff all friendly though pool bar had queues at times on the evenings if only 1 member of bar staff on duty.
