Non-existing wifiAmong other criterias we chose this hotel due to its promise of free wifi in each room. The wifi is extremely unreliable at best and non-exesting at worst. They will tell you its better in the reception area, but it is not. We were challenged by the receptionist with the answer that it is a common issue in this country (!) This is Germany and we have been to many hotels in Germany with lower standards with perfectly working wifi. In a 4 star hotel in Germany you would never expect this issue. So if you depend on wifi - which you often do in the evenings due to the remote location of the hotel, you should not chose this hotel. We left after one night even though we had booked 4.

Poor food, zero atmosphereWe came here to eat while staying at a house nearby. The area is nice and Rügen more generally very beautiful and worth a visit, but the hotel is located on the edge of a growing estate of holiday homes which is still something of a building site. The dozens of empty houses added to the rather desolate feel of the place. The restaurant itself is split between buffet and a la carte. We opted for the buffet but found there was nothing for vegetarians. However we were told we could order a main course from the a la carte menu, though this wasn't encouraged. A little confused, we went ahead and ordered three of our main courses from the a la carte menu. I had the buffet. The antipasti was ok but the main course was unpleasant, overcooked meat and vegetables that had begun to disintegrate. The a la carte choices were also poor to average, especially the currywurst which tasted only of the raw curry powder that had been sprinkled on top. Although the restaurant sprawled across a large area the tables were very close together, which we found a bit oppressive. There was also nothing on the menu for children. I can't comment on the hotel but I would avoid the restaurant.

Nice but could be betterWe booked late and thought 120 euro for a 4 star hotel sounded good. It was a little too good to be true (the hotel is not four starts in my opinion, rooms lack). The location is really nice, breakfast included and very good, parking included as well. We didn't try the spa but checked it out and it is not very big. Wifi works, not more. Staff was very friendly.

Interesting building with nice roomsThis is a good hotel, the rooms are quite nice (we had an attic room in the main building, small windows with a nice view of the bay - which they had thoughtfully equipped with an insect screen), there is a laundry service (which we did not use), and a spa (which we also did not use, as we were driving around the island during the day). The wifi is erratic; so not good if you are on business, but perhaps relaxing. I suppose that wifi reception may not be that good on the island in general. Breakfast was good and plentiful, buffet style, and the buffet spread out over the entire breakfast area, so no queues - well planned, as it were. Dinner was OK, but nothing to enthuse about - there again, there didn't seem to be too many choices about. Bar service was good! The hotel has a beach, sort of (no sand to speak of); though you could swim there (not for the fainthearted ... and as they have tides, I would ask at reception before trying) - mind you, we saw two brave ladies in the waves. There is a playground for children, a beach volleyball court, and a few of the nice Strandkörbe they have on the German beaches (both North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts). You can sit in them and feel somewhat sheltered from the wind. The location is a bit out of the way - though nothing on Rügen is that far apart. If you have a car, it could perhaps be used as a base for different trips. Whatever you do, take insect repellent and sun screen.

Dissapointed service and boring hotelWe were quite dissapointed about the hotel. They claim to have free parking, but they ended up charging us 10/day. The pool was also closed the first day we arrived, which was lame. The ressort is located far from any minor city, and basicly requirre you to drive 15+ mins. to get anyehere for food and more. The 'free WiFi' was so slow and unreliable that we gave up using it after the first night. That would not be so bad if the celuar reception wasnt terrible as well. Overall a pretty dissapointed hotel and resort. I would not recommrmd it to anyone.
