Great Food, great Service but a bit priceyWe (a couple in our 50's) stayed in this hotel for the 4th time and we're once again impressed with the food (in the main), the staff and the facilities. Having visited on previous occasions I was well aware of what the hotel had to offer although I was a bit suprised at how much it had expanded since our last visit (2016). Sadly the hotel also appeared to be a bit overwelmed with the expansion and they were a bit under pressure during check in / check out. This resulted in the reception area being full during peak periods. The hotel has changed since my first visit in 2011 and now offers a larger wellness area and a second dining area (although you have to walk outside to reach it). Further changes involve the interior design from a previous Mediterranean feel to a quite cold (my opinion) gold/silver design. Unfortunately the interior designer appears to have got it wrong with the lampshades made out of a hairpiece or mammoth fur (see picture ). Another change is the bar which used to be fairly open but now has an opaque glass panel hiding the bar staff from the customers. Although this review may appear a bit negative it's only because I've visited before and marginally prefered the previous visits however I have no doubt that once the building works and refurbishments are finished the hotel will exceed my expectations (as it has on previous visits). I can recommend splashing out a bit more money and booking a spa suite with whirlpool/bath (be aware though that a thimble full of bath oil will set you back 5 euro and you may be cheaper buying some champagne).

More stress than relaxationCame here to relax and was first confused by the maze structure of the buildings. The food was okay, staff very unpleasant never giving you clear answers or directions to your questions. The outside pool was cold and the special one that you need a keycard for was boring and cold, although it was inside of the hotel. Ended up staying in the only warm pool or taking a nap in the relaxing rooms. Had a massage with bath, which was ridiculous because the massage was 5min and then i just layed in the bathtub for 25min. I recommend to go to your local pool/ take a bath at home or just skip this place and go straight to the Hahn Airport, where you can fly to a more relaxing place.

businesswhat a bad hotel, at the receoption complicated for a booking, also on the website, they let you to book rooms higher in price , and also on the website you can not book a room in the main building, so they have 2 buildings, the pool is completed diffilcul to find, and you need to walk around 100 meters before you get there, the rooms dont have airco so in summer time its ucking warm inside the rooms and that for a 5 star hotel, no no its just a bed and breakfast hotel not living in 2020 , the management need to go outside bernkastel for to learn about hotel living and a high class guests

Below averageNice average rooms. Reception works. Restaurant ok. Service varies from really good to extremely poor. I was told of by a waiter because we had a sticker on our regular table. Was also told off by housekeeping for the same reason, though in the door. Perhaps its a cultural thing. But I was pretty surprised that they started correcting on us. Also the handling of COVID-19 was a bit funny. Ill for sure never come back.

Dont bother in summer! No airconUpon arrival the hotel is appealing to the eye however when seeing our room (we booked a family room) it was cramped and had no aircon. It was stifling hot in the room and we were charged 25 for the baby bed (which we didnt know we were being charged until we got the bill!) The hotel isnt really suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair access so was difficult getting to and from our room. The lift is a 2 person lift only so was a tight squeeze with a pushchair and 2 adults in it! The afternoon lunch/snacks were diabolical. Lacking in choice, and it was dry and bland. Half veggie burgers and bread with no butter does not cut it for a 4 star hotel. The hotel is a maze and the little map given at check in makes no sense at all. Dinner was a little better, 4 course meal and each course arrived quickly. However, my boyfriend ordered the fish and it was pitiful what he got. The starter was the nicest thing of the entire meal but ate what was given to us as we were so hungry. We went back to our room after dinner and it was so hot it made us feel quite ill. We had to strip our 10 month old son to his nappy to sleep. For a place thats about wellness there is no wellness about not being able to sleep because there wasnt any aircon. Our son struggled to sleep late into the night and began to run a fever or got over heated. By 2am we thought it wasnt safe to stay any longer and rushed our son to hospital. There wasnt a single member of staff around to notify we were leaving so fled in the night in search of a hospital. After being seen at the hospital, we didnt bother going back and called the hotel in the morning to let them know we wont be returning and would post the room keys back to them. They sent an invoice and charged us 324 for the night. We were only in the hotel for a matter of hours and didnt get to use any of the facilities other than and crappy meal. The hotel is an over priced sweat box and not really suitable for families. I wont be going back and certainly am not happy with our experience. Parking is basically on a dirt patch so dont bother wearing nice shoes when you arrive! Only positive thing I can say is the the staff were really friendly.
