    Typical Italian Hotel

Hotel is ok for people with normal needs. A bit pricey. Air conditioning does not go on until 6pm and turns off around 8am. Bit fans in the rooms work if you dont mind it a bit warm...like 28 degrees...main concierge speaks German, Italian and English. Rooms are clean, bathroom shower leaks a bit...what is common here... Mattresses are comfortable enough..breakfast buffet is the way it is here in Italy. Not the best, but ok with fresh fruits, Müsli, cheese, breads and cake. Hallways and lobby are not air conditioned. No parking in the hotel. You have to park on the street or behind alley. To get to the beach you have to cross the road. Beaches charge extra for umbrellas and chairs. Beaches with swimming pools are very expensive, very expensive. But there is a free public beach on the far left side.

    Terrible !!!

I had to stay here 2 nights since the travel provider booked there. Never again!! this place is obscene. It's a 1 star hotel to be generous, rooms are from another world, old and not functional furniture, bathrooms with rotten wooden door. For the shower 1 small soap bag is provided, so if you want 2 showers you need to request the reception. the hotel do not has a parking, parking is public on the street. breakfast is horrible, you better cross the road and eat sand from the beach. A/C is noisy and start at 6 PM..... I do not know how this place is still in business. I will never come back here or suggest anyone to stay here.

The Hotel that everybody loved said noone ever

In my fourthy year old life I have never experienced near the poor comfort and interior of a hotel. To even call this a hotel is a joke, to charge anyone for living here is even a bigger joke. The hotel is ancient, the breakfast is so shameful and poor that you couldnt feed a stray dog with it. Theres a fan in the middle of the room, nobody knows how it works its just there as a part of the obscene interior. They call it bunkbed but better described as a jail cell mounted bunk. The noice from other guests is unbearable probably because they also has been driven insane by staying at this place. All in all you think youre in a horror movie and just want to wake up from that nightmare of a hotel. Viareggio is a very nice town with great beaches, shops and restaurants and well worth a stay but take my advise, book anything but the freak house Liberty.

Good location, good breakfast a bit pricey

We stayed here as a family of 4 for one night. We were stopping over to take the ferry trip up the Cinque Terre the next day. The hotel is dated (my husband said he felt like he had stepped back in time) I quite liked it. The family room was big and the beds were comfortable. The room had reasonably good air con so it was a comfortable nights sleep for all. The hotel is on a main road and we had a room looking out over the beach so some may find this noisy at night (we didnt we were all exhausted from travelling in the day so it was not a prob). The breakfast was really good, good selection and tasty coffee. Staff were really friendly here. Generally the hotel was a little tired and some places could have done with a dust but for beds, bathrooms and food it was all clean (key areas for me). The price of the hotel is high. We paid 200 for a family of 4 for one night but it was in August and 97% of hotels were booked up so I guess it is what it is. For us it served the purpose of a good nights sleep, easy access to the boat and dinner in the night. Not sure all the bad reviews are totally justified. If I had paid 50 less i would have given it more stars.
