    Second visit very disapointed

We took the best room with a very nice view to cannal, nice architecture and location, but some things was very strange. Firstly, one evening we spent without hot water, person, who were on duty that nigth just went away, few hours we did not find any responsable person in a hotel, last time I got this guy on phone, he said, hot water will be in 5 min., but it takes few hours, without any explanation of situation and without any sorry. What was more strange, that this guy played music very loud in hall of hotel, there were no other people, so I don't understand, why we were forced to listen this bass sound in our room. Breakfast was very borring, it was hard to eat the same food 5 days. To say more, when we wanted to pay for a stay, we were asked to pay 2,90 Eur more for additional dish, but it was hard to understand for what exactly, becouse we had breakfast included. We ate the same things all days. So, exept one person, the staff need a much to improve.

    Cozy Hotel with History

We visited Liepja during low season, so the hotel was not crowded and the price was very affordable (we stayed in deluxe room with breakfast included). The hotel is located in the historical building built in 1772 (one can find this out from the hotel guidebook located in the room) which is now renovated. The hotel is quite small (only 7 rooms) and very cozy. Let me mention the advantages of the hotel: - Excellent location: the Old Town is just around the corner; - Great view of the canal; - One can adjust the temperature in the room (that's important during cold time of the year), there is climate control unit in the room; - The room was equipped very well: there was king size bed with comfortable mattress and plenty of pillows (though, we had two small blankets instead of one big one), a sofa, some chairs, a desk and a coffee table, big wardrobe with a safe which can be used with no additional charge; there was a TV, a fridge, a kettle (and some tea as well), a hair dryer, an alarm clock with thermometer which also was very handy. - Toiletries include the soap, shower gel, body lotion, shower cap and hygiene kit (cotton pads and buds) - completely enough even for exacting guests; - The room (at least deluxe one) was equipped with jacuzzi which was really working; - We've got complimentary water from the hotel; - Breakfast included was really great - it contained from two courses and a drink of your choice; - There is good fish restaurant located in the hotel where guests of the hotel can get 10% discount. Some disadvantages: - There were only 5 Latvian TV channels to watch, other channels from the list in the hotel guidebook were blocked (not sure if additional charge is needed to unlock them, nothing was mentioned about it in the guidebook); - Curtains are too narrow so they do not cover the whole window, so the light from outside will get into the room anyway. To sum up, I liked the stay in the hotel very much and will definitely stay here again if I ever need to come to Liepja again. This is the best choice for people who don't like big crowded hotels but value comfort and good service.

    Very unethical attitude.

I went on a business trip from Riga to Liepja where I used the accommodations provided by the Libava hotel. First of all, I must point out that the variety of the breakfast menu at the hotel is fixed and minimal, and one must order their breakfast at the hotel lobby the previous evening, and indicate the time that the breakfast would have to be served. Because I had had a meeting arranged for 9:00, I booked a breakfast for 8:00. I went to the dining room at 8:00, and did not get one. I waited for some time, and then went to the lobby to ask about this. In the end, I got my breakfast, as late as 8:30, and the meal did not match the description indicated in the menu at all. Later, when I was returning to Riga, I realised that, in a hurry, I forgot my sweater at the hotel; in my subjective opinion, the value of the sweater was considerable. I immediately contacted the hotel, and their answer was that they had found my clothes in the closet. I went back to the hotel, where the staff gave me things that clearly belonged to someone else. I tried to find a rational solution to this situation; unfortunately, no constructive explanation was provided, and the gentleman who proudly called himself to be the hotel manager became very impolite, shouting, throwing indirect insults at me. The proud hotel manager pointed out rudely that many people called them looking for their things, which can never be found, adding that the hotel was not a pawn shop. This remark by the hotel manager implies that there must be something wrong going on at the hotel, if they never find the personal items people ask them about. There are essentially two options: either a member of the hotels staff or those who lived in the room after me stole my personal things, and while the hotel administration had ample opportunity to at least find out the circumstances of the matter, they did not even try it, and, instead, the proud hotel manager chose to be aggressive and inconsiderate. In any case, the attitude of the hotel is very unbecoming.

    Waiting for renovation

Hotel is in on the shore of the river, former custom for fish. But this historically interesting building needs more attention from the staff, which (I suppose) they lack. On our arrival a man in the lobby just announced that sauna (we booked it) was broken, but it is not their fault (?) and they didn't suggested anything instead of it. Cable TV showed a few channels without any international ones but they didn't managed to repair it during our stay. One lamp was broken and when after my complaints I took it to the lobby it never came back. Breakfast is a la carte and very rich but not delicious, more orientated to provide big portions. As they write - in farmers way. So the hotel just needs more attention for guests, but the price is just enormously high.

    No, thanks.

We were at this hotel for the first time and don't want to return there. After arriving we waited a long time at the reception when someone would come. After a while guy came and just asked, if we ar waiting for a long time, no apologies. When we asked about breakfast (choosed hotel because breakfast was available), we were answered that there will be no breakfast, but we can go to the store and buy something and eat at hotel. Really?? Only one channel was available on TV. We were really dissapointed in this hotel. Price is too high for that kind of service.
