Better think twiceThis USED to be the "IN" resort hotel in Tacloban. But after the typhoon a few years back, left this in a sorry state. My team got 3 villas, good for 10-12 in a room. We were placed near the fence before the sea, most of the villas/cottages/room beside us are destroyed... such a gloomy/creepy place to be :( I got to stay in the 3 rooms during our 4 day stay... each room has a double shower, double CR, double sink. Some of the bathrooms/cr don't have doors or hooks or a place to put your toiletries. Sometimes the hot water doesn't turn on. There's one room with a jaccuzzi but we didn't use it. There's a TV and cable but its rainy on screen. The 2 ac units are cold enough tho. There's a kettle for hot water, a few cups and glasses. One of the villas lack outlets. There's no telephone in case you need to call outside or the reception area for emergencies. NO WIFI and even bad cellphone signal in all rooms :( It's a long walk going to the main bldg, dining area, reception area...you really need some patience and sturdy knees going up and down coz there's so much stairs and all elevators are not functioning :( The pools are nice. Almost every afternoon there's a swimming party going on. BUT as guests, they even charged us 150 per person to use the pool. BOO. Even the showers in the pool are not useable :( Buffet is quite OK, typical Filipino and American dishes. OK also for 250 per head for breakfast. Most of the function rooms were used too by seminars, parties during our stay. Reception area has WIFI, not much chairs to hang-out tho. And there quite some mosquitoes!!! Another dreaded part of the hotel is going down the main hi-way. Another flight of stairs or the ramp area which is poorly lit at night :( Maybe the best part of this place is the view... I hope somebody takes interest in renovating this hotel resort coz it has potential.

Have to agree with other recent reviewsOn the plus side, the room was nice with two queen sized beds and a nice view. There was a fridge and coffee service in the room. The complimentary breakfast buffet was delicious and filling. On the minus side, there is a definite pall hanging over the place. Even though it's been years since a typhoon damaged the hotel, there are still subtle signs of the damages. It just felt like a hotel that's long past it's prime.

Past its sale by dateWe decided to spend the night for valentines, (wed stayed here before prior the Hurricane Hannah and I must admit it wasnt that great then) as they had entertainment and buffet dinner. The room was old and still showed signs of damage six years on, none of the elevators work and the stairs are dangerous when wet. The work that has been done is shoddy and obviously done on the cheap. Basically its run down and needs a major investment, all said and done the room was 52 and you got a variety of interesting insects in the room The meal: firstly theyd over booked, there wasnt a table for us, so they improvised, garden chairs and what looked like a side table in the entrance, which we refused, eventually we were given the same set up in the walk way where we were constantly in the way of staff and guests getting food and spent most of the night being knocked. The buffet looked good, but had obviously been laying around for some time, as the burners had gone out and it was mainly now cold, however the salads were warm. I went up again when they replenished the food, which was also cold so could only mean it also had been hanging around in the kitchen. They tried to reheat by placing with new burners, which in the catering industry is a huge no no, its dangerous salad should be kept at 5c and you cant reheat meat to warm We checked out the hotel four hours after checking in (checked in at 6pm) hungry and tired and went home. Avoid this place, the staff are wonderful, but the place needs a revamp and a health and hygiene inspection in the kitchen, the restaurant was dirty god knows what state the kitchens were in

Leyte Park ResortHotel needs to be renovated. Old rooms needs refurbishing. Restaurant offers a variety of food for snack at an affprdable rate of P150, one can eat all one wants. The swimming pool needs also some upgrading.

One night in TaclobanThe view from the hotel overlooking the sea is calming. Breakfast was great. The usual Filipino hospitality was on display all through my one night stay. The hotel is old and could do with some work. All in all it was good value for money.
