bed and poor breakfastI have read many reviews of this place and regarding the very poor breakfast, the owner always replies that "breakfast is free, so why the complaint?", basically. NO, it is NOT free, it is part of the price of the stay and this place does advertise as a bed and breakfast. Two of the cheapest possible caged chicken eggs, hard poached (no choice here) served with a tiny sliver of bacon...instant coffee masquerading as a filter pot....cheap home brand bread, I assume for toast. Yes, there are more expensive places, but I think anyone's experience of the term 'bed and breakfast' would imply that breakfast has been paid for, as part of the rate and should be of some standard higher than very poor! I am sorry, Garry, but there really is no excuse for this! Bacon is not that expensive, nor are halfway decent eggs and certainly not bread, not in the greater scheme of things. I am sure most people would not mind spending an extra few dollars to not feel ripped off afterwards. Also, I paid for three queen rooms and the cheapest one was still advertised as a queen room, sleeping up to 2 adults and 1 child and a shared bathroom This room was basically a closet at the top of steep stairs, with the shared bathroom two floors down and at the opposite end of the house! The cost of this room would have been a lot more than a motel room with a much bigger living area Games room was great and the house sells itself. The 2 stars I give is for the great games/lounge room and very well stocked library...very impressive. But there is just no excuse for the miserliness of the breakfast...none at all. As for the heating? One of my sons could not sleep as the heating wasn't working and the doona very thin and very cheap..and I was too hot, as there was no working control on my heater...the adjustment knob on the heater did nothing at all

Historic place but in need of a lot of refurbishmentWe had a great stay and loved the history and old world charm of Leura House. The owner was friendly and ever present. The breakfast was satisfactory but the one hour time slot of 8:30 to 9:30 did not suit us as we like to eat earlier. Much of the building does need repair and the old and often broken furniture replaced. The step stairs may not be suitable for people with some mobility problems if staying on a high floor. The common lounge and breakfast area are very nice. Our room on the highest floor had no air con and was a little warm on hot days. One electric fan was provided.

Lovely Leura House!Had a recent stay there, lovely old building, with what appears to be many of the original fixtures still intact. Weather was great, Leura was wonderful, and the breakfast was included free of charge! The owners - Garry and his hard working daughter, appear to run the whole place by themselves! One thing though, Garry - the owner - although a really pleasant old man could appear a little odd at times.

A most enjoyable stay in one of the truly iconic homes in the Blue Mountains. The room was luxurious in the old style. We had one of the promoted rooms - the 'velvet' room. It was very spacious, light and airy with access to a large verandah. The bathroom was quite spacious and had a separate shower and bath. Breakfast was continental with cereal, toast, juice and coffee available. We basically had the house to ourselves for 3 of the 4 days so it was extremely quiet and enjoyable. The home is only about a ten minute walk to the centre of Leura. The only real issue we had was it was little cold on the first night (a cold change came through). Consequently the central heating took quite a while to heat up the room. Everything else was excellent. Gary the host was very helpful, giving us a rundown of the home's history and helping us with any issues we raised.
