Slightly quirky but worth a visit.Set on top of a hill overlooking the town, there are superb views from the public rooms and outdoor areas and also the Superior rooms. The decoration comes as something of a surprise and is quirky to say the least, especially in the bar bit's all good fun.Bedrooms are comfortable and our only problem was that the toilet could have benefitted from a good slug of bleach. We were on half board and the menu was perfectly ok but nothing amazing.Slick service. Easy to find, and plenty of free parking,a bonus in Saumur.

Welcoming, lovely views and excellent mealsThe hotel is outside the town, set up on a hill, but with easy and quick access by car both to St Hilaire St Florent (several wineries, mushroom caves, famous military riding school) and to Saumur itself. We stayed for 5 nights in June in a superior first floor room with a nice decking terrace with long views out over the town and the chateau in the distance. The room was quite spacious though with sloping roof on one side. Bathroom was well equipped. Separate WC was a bit of a squeeze. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. We had dinner twice and found it equally good. The chef was very inventive with unusual combinations that we generally found delicious. The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful. Theres a nice pool, not huge but fine, and lovely gardens. Interior decorations in the public areas are quite quirky but dont let that put you off. Its a nice place to stay.

Perfect Place for Stopover En-Route!We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The setting is perfect right on the outskirts of Saumur, but a 25 minute walk into town along the river or 5 minutes by car. The hotel has a lovely pool and and a terrace garden looking towards Saumur and the castle. There is ample parking on site. Our room was clean and perfect for 4 people with a balcony and two bedrooms. We enjoyed dinner on the first night which was excellent although the menu is limited. I took advantage of the bike hire (8) and went for a ride around the nearby country lanes. When in France again this will become our main place to stay if travelling through this way.

Good for FamiliesStayed for a couple of nights on the way to the Dordogne. Our apartment was perfect for families and the pool was great. The hotel decor is somewhat quirky and the breakfast was ok but there wasnt a huge choice. It was noticeable on the first day however that our bathroom smelt of drains. On the second evening it became obvious that our toilet had blocked. We were not offered alternative rooms and had to stay overnight in an apartment detached from the main hotel with two young children and a toilet that was on the brink of overflowing. We understood that perhaps the hotel was full and little could be done until the following day. What was disappointing however was that we were charged full price for our stay and meals. A bit cheeky considering we didnt have a functioning toilet! Hence the three stars - otherwise I would have rated higher. Perhaps a show of good will for guests experiencing unsatisfactory accommodation should be considered in future.....

An individualistic, but excellent hotelAlthough it is a little quirky, perhaps a little reminiscent of the 1960s with its pop music-themed lounge and bar, this is an excellent hotel at a very reasonable price. It is a bright and welcoming hostelry where the staff are excellent, friendly and efficient. It has a beautiful outdoor terrace and garden with a swimming pool with a good view across the City of Saumur and the castle in the distance. The hotel organises regular events and music evenings and dining in can be a delight as the food, though not exceptional, is very good. The self-service breakfasts are also more than adequate. The hotel is only about ten minutes drive to the city centre, river and castle but we found it difficult to park at the weekend so it might be wise to go to town by taxi. The bedrooms are spacious and well-equipped and each one is different from the next which adds to the unique charm of the hotel. I thoroughly recommend this delightful hotel.
