  Another wonderful stay

  This was the second time I stayed at Les Marronniers. I wanted to show this beautiful region of extinct volcanoes to a member of my family. The hotel is, as always, very good. The rooms are pleasantly furnished, comfortable and, though quite near a main road, there is no noise at night. I would have appreciated having hotter water for the shower - this was not the case three years ago, so I presume it is not a regular problem. The restaurant is excellent and full every evening. We didn't eat at lunchtime but, when we were there at mid-day, it seemed really full too. Reservations are a must! I was not surprised to learn that Les Marronniers is recommended by the Collège Culinaire de France - you can be sure of the quality and freshness of the food prepared. It was always delicious. The breakfast buffet was amazing too - different breads and croissants, cheeses and cold meats, fresh fruit and yoghurt, a meal in itself! It is really a wonderful area for a walking holiday. From the little town of Thueyts, which is situated at the top of an 80 metre- high cliff running along the banks of the upper Ardèche river, you have several walks of 3 - 6 hours, well marked, which take you to view points of natural beauty, without touching your car. You can go swimming in the Ardèche river, rent equipment from the Tourist Office and do the Via Ferrata and nearby there are many fascinating sites to visit: the Ray Pic waterfall, the Ventadour castle, being patiently restored by its owners with the help of volunteers, the Jaujac basaltic formations, and Neyrac spa, among many others. Thueyts has several good shops, an excellent bakery, butchers shop, a chemist, small supermarkets, a wine shop, a cinema and post office, among others. Les Marronniers has a lovely quiet garden, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna and, above all, something that sets this hotel apart, the warm welcome and kindness of the owners, Martine and Patrick Blanchard and their staff. Nothing is too much to make their hosts at ease during their stay. I will be back!

  Wonderful and quiet traditional little hotel in a small square of tall chestnuts trees, along the river Ardeche.

  After riding our bikes some three hundred kilometres of winding roads with magnificent views, coming to the Marronniers was wonderful: cooking superb, understated and delicate, service kind, flexible and fast, owners fun to deal with, cool nights in comfortable and not too expensive rooms.

  Great find in a beautiful part of France

  We were on our way home from the South of France and going home isn't as exciting as going to a holiday. We booked this hotel as an overnight stop. The lovely village is located in the middle of the Ardeche mountains and the journey up is steep and full of interest as the river wends it's way past the road. The hotel is in the middle of the village and we'd have loved to have stayed a few days including Saturday to enjoy the market which sets up immediately outside. We were a family of four and our room was an enormous suite with living and kitchen area, one double room, one twin room and a separate toilet and bathroom. The room was excellent value for money. We had dinner outside in the restaurant which was nice although not all the items were to my taste but the presentation was beautiful. Breakfast was the usual french option of croissants, meat, yogurts etc. A visit would be recommended for the views and location itself.

  Welcoming and clean in a beautiful part of the Ardeche

  Hotel les Marronniers was a lovely hotel in a pretty little town in the heart of the Ardeche. The swimming pool was very welcoming and clean and staff were on hand to ensure the stay was a pleasant one. The meal in the evening was of a good standard and popular within the town. The square where the hotel was overlooked the boules park and was within walking distance of the Ardeche river and le ont du Diable which was very pictuesque.

  Wonderful vegetarian meal

  Thuyets seems to be a small and attractive town, potentially made even better by the fact that you can go and swim in the Ardeche. This hotel is very pleasant and unpretentious, with great service. In particular, just had a really superb vegetarian meal here, for which I am eternally grateful: a truly delicious cheese tartlet, immaculately cooked vegetables and delicious mashed potato in a light and crispy pillow.
