Average with some positives and some less-than-positives

OK, so don't get me wrong. This property is what it says on the tin: accommodation in an expensive ski resort with a price tag to match. But we Brits (and I assume other nationalities too, although I don't want to assume) have a thing about value for money. If we know the price and we agree to it we do expect the product to match the price label ...more on that. Positives: Excellent location, about 8 minutes by foot, via the level-linking escalator, to the start of the Bel Air gondola. Less than that to shops, bars and a little further to the nicer restaurants. 15 minutes (by downward escalators and a walk) to the excellent Aquamotion facility. Staff were friendly, if a little absent on the key turn around day of Saturday. (I sign on the front desk gives a phone number from which you'll get no response). Good customer service eg. we asked if we could borrow a hair drier and hey-presto a good quality one appeared. Parking, if you have pre-booked it, is in underground garage immediately adjacent to the reception. Spaces are tight but it's a good facility and well worth booking. The views from balcony of apartment 22 are fabulous and it is a good sitting out area. The apartment was well cleaned on arrival. The less-than-good: This property advertises the existence of WiFi. This is barely true. Each apartment has access for up to 3 devices. In an apartment capable of sleeping 10 people this is patently ridiculous. And whilst we can all mock the parenting of those whose children seem to consider WiFi a basic human right (!) this is not really acceptable. Even when connected the bandwidth was pitiful ...I hate to know what it would be when the properties are full. This really must be addressed by management. Facilities. As other reviewers have testified, the property is adequately furnished but frankly only just. A few more light points, power points and furnishings would make the place so much nicer. The bathrooms are dimly lit by one light. The bedrooms have just one power socket. Our larger apartment has a kitchen in which catering for 10 people proved to be a significant challenge. Bedrooms are minuscule. A double room will have space to walk around three sides of the bed and no more. There are no built-in cupboards. Space is very limited. Our apartment sleeps 10 ...but only one double bed. How many families do you know with 8 kids? Laundry. 7 euros for a wash. Really? Spa. Extra cost. Go to Aquamotion. Overall, I think 3 stars is fair. It's accommodation in a good location. It skimps on comforts whilst charging a premium price. It does what it says on the tin ...just.

    Cozy and great location

It's hard to find accommodation in the summer here so this apartment was perfect. However, the rest of 1650 was just closed. The shop is close by and opened up after the weekend, but little in the way of restaurants nearby and open and the ones that were open were poor quality and expensive. The chalet is very nice - not cheap, but I guess it's down to the location. A washing machine would be a great addition as there were no facilities for washing clothes anywhere. Parking was easy and free. Wifi is OK but not very fast.

    Great location, roomy apartment

We booked a four bedroomed apartment with hamam (sauna which we didn't use), for 6 of us. There was plenty of room. Beds are very comfortable with quality linen. The apartment is set over 3 floors. Downstairs there are two bedrooms both with ensuite showers & sinks (one double, one twin) and a separate loo. Then stairs to the living area which is a very good size and has an open plan dining area and kitchen. Stairs to the further 2 bedrooms (both twin), one with ensuite shower room, basin and toilet, the other room had no ensuite, but they could use the separate loo, and separate Shower over bath room. Also on this floor they have squeezed in a hamam with integral shower. It was a 5 minute walk to the supermarket, and ski hire and 7 minutes walk to the elevator that takes you to the tourist information, lockers (well worth having for a week), and slopes. The only issue we did have was the horrid smell of drains in all of the bathrooms and although the staff did come round to put some drain cleaner / bleach down it, which kind of helped for a bit, it still remained and was pretty awful. However, overall, I would recommend as it we got it for a great price through Powder White. I can also recommend Gavin from Snowbird transfers to picked us up from Geneva - we've used him a number of years to collect and return us from the airport. NB: hairdyers are not supplied in the apartment.

    Fantastic

After a long drive we alighted on the pavement and hoped that the reception that we could see was our accommodation- cosy looking and as youd expect in a classic chalet style- everything made of wood. Our apartment was a good size and very comfortable with a very pleasant and helpful lady receptionist on hand to answer any questions/she fetched wood for our fire and replaced a lightbulb! The location is excellent- about 5 minutes walk in ski boots to the main ski gondola Ariondaz via a supermarket where you can pick up baguettes for lunch and various ski rental places for any ski or boot adjustments required. They offer a discounted rate with the local Sport 2000 which for the kids ski gear was a nice surprise! We will come again and stay here. Next time we will be a party of 8 so our apartment will have a better view. The smaller ones dont. Absolutely delighted with our stay. Excellent value. Highly recommended:-) There could be better signage outside to make you aware that youre there when you first get there!

    Charming staff and great location

We booked a larger chalet for our family of 10 ranging in age from a 5 month old baby to two OAPs (grandparents). Because of the problems of getting some the family up the hill in one car, on Friday we asked at reception if it was possible to leave our luggage. The receptionist could not have been more charming and helpful, a level of service which continued throughout our stay. Our 5 bedroom accommodation was certainly large enough to take us all. Obviously some bedrooms are larger than others but overall the accommodation was clean and well equipped. The chalets are in an excellent location to take advantage of the shops and a short downhill walk to the escalators which take you up to the main road, a short distance from the next escalator up to the slopes.
