Don't Go Out of Season! The hotel is in an excellent position on the seafront and within a few steps of the busy quayside areas. Bedrooms are on the small side as are the bathrooms, but they are acceptably clean and reasonably comfortable by *** standards. Locals say this was once the 'best' hotel in Palavas but that it has 'slipped' of late. Beware: out of season, the hotel is literally empty (of personnel and management) and the reception unattended for 95% of the day. Try next door ...

Awfully Loud Ignorant, Zero Excellence ServiceI've deliberately titled my review to match the letters of this hotel, or more particularly the individual who "greeted" us at breakfast after our one night stay here over the weekend. My wife and I arrived down for breakfast at 8.30am, there was nobody about. My wife needed to take a daily tablet and not having local knowledge about the drinkability of the tap water, my wife, in the absence of anyone at reception (which doubles as the counter area) opened the fridge and took out a bottle of tap water to take the tablet. A moment later this individual (I won't call him gentleman) arrived in and started ranting and raving in French when he saw my wife had opened a bottle of water. In my slow French (but I have enough to make myself understood), I stated my wife urgently needed the tablet and that there was nobody there to ask for the water. I stated we weren't sure if the man was asleep, outside, wherever, but in my efforts to make myself understood over his continued gesticulations and rantings, I made sure to apologise in French and if he was offended we were very sorry. But (having said "Nous sommes desolés" I dunno how many times), I added it was "seulement un bouteille de l'eau", only a bottle of water. The rant continued from Monsieur Le Moan. He proceeded to signal at every bottle of booze behind the counter intimating that we should just take every bottle and be done with it, it was so over the top and irrational over the "crime" of opening a bottle of tap water, so I finally rose my voice to match his with a final "We're Sorry" and he stopped shouting. He served (or rather threw) the breakfast at us and continued to vibe us as he served other guests. My wife who is coeliac and always brings her own gluten free bread then asked cordially could she have the bread toasted was predictably met with a gruff "Non" reply. Lovely, this is the first hotel in my wide experience who has refused this simple request. He served us tea and coffee (predictably without milk), so I then had to ask him to bring "du lait" to the table, which he did promptly enough. He then a few minutes later, removed the jug of milk from the table, while still clearly seething over Watergate. We had been in this area to play some music the night before and the gentleman who brought us over arrived for his breakfast. He has fluent French, so in order to try mend fences, I asked could he explain to French Fawlty what had happened and that we were very sorry if he was offended over the opening of said water...........well what happened next was a stand up row as my friend's attempts to diffuse the situation were not listened to one bit. Monsieur Le Moan went potty again shouting and gesticulating and waving his hands about furiously, I could make out my friend pleading "will you not please listen to me, can I not explain to you?".........pointless, any smidgeon of reasonable discussion was rendered futile in the face of a man now white with anger, over a bottle of poxy tap water.............unbelievable! One other of our party, who also speaks fluent French, was laughing hysterically at the antics of this man coming apart emotionally. He seemed to take huge exception to being called "disagreeable" by my friend and when he looked at my wife and I, we repeated the word "disagreeable". It wasn't what I wanted to call him, but as he seemed genuinely wounded by disagreeable, I was happy to add fuel to that particular fire. We went off anyhow, loaded up the car and in one final attempt by me to leave on reasonable terms, I said across the room in French that I was "Very Sorry, Ok?" He dismissed the comment predictably and as the car pulled away my attempt to blow him a kiss failed to attract his gaze, a gaze which was probably misty, kilometres away and verging towards utter meltdown. Over a bottle of tap water! We only stayed the one night, the room was small but comfortable and clean and has a lovely beach view and all that, but our abiding memory of Hotel Les Alizes, is of a Monsieur Meltdown and Le Bouteille De l'eau! Sacre bleu............ Stay here if you want, but don't attempt to help yourself to even a napkin if this headbanger is on duty..........

Top locationHotel Les Alizes is situated in the best location. You have the beach in front of you and behind you all the shopping possibilities, including the restaurants and bars. The Room is big enough for 2 and was very clean. Really a great hotel, if there was not that one issue during the check-in. We arrived at the hotel around 1pm, there was no soul around. All doors closed, the hotel restaurant was dark. So we rang the bell few times, nothing happened. So we went to chill at the beach and waited until 3pm for the official check-in time. Still no sould around. So I called the number which was provided in my booking confirmation. There was a girl on the phone which didnt speak english at all. she tried to tell me I could come back in the evening for the check-in. So I made it very clear, that we are standing in front of the hotel right now and we want to check in NOW. So she came after 10 minutes with her other teenage friends which were all around the age of 14!!! it was really the worst and unprofessional checkin-in I ever had in my whole life!! So I hope there was a good reason why a bunch of teenagers were managing the check-in. Or else I really recommend the owners to consider an another professional solution.
