  Great accommodation

  We stayed in apartment six of the Lemon Gardens for two weeks from the beginning of September 2006. This apartment was on the 3rd floor of the block and had air conditioning. There are 6 apartments in two blocks and two villas, all situated around the pool. The gardens are very well-kept by Antonis, the owner and, as the name implies, are full of lemon trees. The apartment was spacious, with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen / living area, extremely clean and had the most wonderful views from both of its terraces, a small one off the main bedroom facing east and a large terrace off the kitchen facing south. There was a large pool in the garden and most days we were the only ones using it. The area is peaceful and so relaxing, the only sounds being from the cows, goats and dogs. Antonis, was very friendly and helpful and came to our rescue when we had locked ourselves out one evening. He speaks very good english. At the moment his Web site is only in German but if you send an email enquiry your reply will be in perfect english. (lemon-garden-vassilikos.com) The nearest Cafe / Bar is Barba Nikos approximately 100metres away run by George and his wife, Toula. The snacks that they prepare are huge and after eating some of them we had trouble moving! George like most Greeks is a big football fan and on one occasion when we visited his bar he was showing 3 different football games simultaneously - an English game, a German game and a Greek game. The nearest shop is about 150 metres away and run by Joanna. Its very well stocked and next to it her parents run a small café. There are plenty of great places to eat with in a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute drive). Our favourite is Babbis which is next to the village school (10 min walk) or Dionysis in Porta Roma (20 min walk). The nearest beach is Mavratsis beach approx 600 metres away past the Louis Hotel complex. Its quite a nice beach but very busy with people from the hotels. You can also walk to Gerakas beach but it will take you about 25 30 mins. If you have a car Plakas beach, Banana Beach, Porto Zoro and Dafni are all between 5 15 minutes away. Our favourite is Dafni. You now have to park at the top of the hill and the Turtle conservation people run a mini bus to the beach. For Car Hire I can recommend Junior Car Rental at Tsilivi. I have used them for the last 5 years and they will deliver to the airport or your apartment. We have stayed in Vassilikos every year for the last five years and this is the best accommodation we have found. We'll be back!

  Relaxing holiday

  This was our fifth stay at the Lemon Garden with our last visit being in 2009. Although we havent been back to Vasilikos in three years it was nice to see that almost nothing has changed except sadly a few local businesses had closed. This time we stayed in apartment number three which is a maisonette. Upstairs we had a good sized bedroom with a ceiling fan and the balcony had a great view over the pool. The bathroom was also on this floor which had a shower over the bath. The ground floor consisted of one room which had a fold up bed / settee and a fully equipped kitchen area. Access to the first floor was via a spiral staircase. As in previous visits the pool was great and the whole site is kept spotlessly clean by Antonis and his cleaner. The garden was full of lemon trees which were just waiting for vodka or gin to go with them! We noticed that a few businesses had closed since our last visit, Harry and Annas on the way from Argassi, Skartsofoli in Vasilikos village, Dionysis in Porta Roma and Cafe / Bar Barba Nikos on the Mavratzis road. We did find a new bar that had opened Villa Rossa (http://www.belvederezante.com/en_villa-rossa.php ) on the junction of the Gerakas and Porta Roma roads. Its part of the Belvedere Hotel and Suites and is a great place to sit out and enjoy a drink or snack. The local beach Mavratzis (about 400m away) has been refurbished and now has a beach / snack bar (privately owned) and a sunbed / shade concession which was charging 7 Euros for two beds and a shade. The three hotels also seemed to be fully open again. Next year we hope to go back for two weeks as our week this year wasnt long enough.

  Lemons everywhere

  Nice and quiet place surrounded by lemon threes. The rooms are cleaned and towels changed everyday. To the beach is a 5 minutes walk. The room has a kitchenette with everything you need to take the lunch or dinner. In august the air conditioning is perfect. There are two supermarkets near to the motel which are offering everything you need. The bus station is 5 minutes away and is very cheap to see the entire island.

  Back again!

  This was our 6th stay here so weve probably said it all before. If you want a completely relaxed holiday this is the place to stay. The Lemon Garden is set about 300m off the main road some 1.5Km from Gerakas beach. The nearest beach is Mavratzis about 750m away. There is a mini market about 5 minutes walk away and in 2014 a new bakery / café. There are about 4 tavernas within a 10 minute walk. The six apartments and 2 villas are set in a beautiful garden full of lemon trees. There is a good sized swimming pool and terrace around the pool. This time we stayed in apartment No4 in the new block. It was well equipped with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. There was a good sized terrace outside the kitchen and a smaller one off one of the bedrooms. There is free WiFi onsite. The owner Antonis lives onsite and you hardly know he was there except for when you see him tending the plants in the garden. Looking forward to our next visit.
