Fantastic food! Reasonably priced & great service.

Great food. Fair prices. Our party of 20 loved the new, to us, menu. Great service. They are very open and nice here! The food is served quick and it is amazing. It has a wide variety of choices to pick and the staff will answer any questions you don't understand about the menu. Beautifully decorated and easy going.

    What a treat.

It was a real pleasure to get away from your ordinary one-size-fits-all hotel for a couple of days and to find ourselves deep in the countryside at a hotel that is so eccentric as to defy description. Le Village Gaulois is intended to look like Asterix the Gaul's village but, for me, I couldn't help feeling I was in The Shire where The Hobbit lived. And the owner is an absolute treasure. To top it all, the food is escellent and inexpensive, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff are super-friendly. I seldom give a fiv e start rating, but Le Village Gaulois deserves every last one of them.

    Fantastic stay & gourmet food!

This is our second time here. We were a group of 8 which was well accommodated with perfect room size and beds. This place is as unique as you will ever find and everything is hand built by the owner Lucien, including the tables outside, buildings, mini-golf course. Him and his son Xavier are perfect chefs, not school taught but all learned from family tradition. Honestly, their food is gourmet and they could charge a lot more than they do. They have so many delicacies that if it were in another location, I'm sure the rich and famous would be dining there often! Such a treasure!

    Sunshine and friends

Stayed here on a recommend from another and I was not disappointed. Comfortable rooms, all different with the amenities we like. No kettle though. (I always travel with one) three guys on motorcycles taking it easy and visiting a few of the sites around Verdun. We slept, had breakfast and an evening meal here as well as plenty of beer! We visited Verdun town one evening for food and frolics but were unable to get a taxi to collect us from the hotel. In stepped the patron to save the day and drove us to town, adding that we were to call the hotel at the end of the evening if we were unable to get a taxi back. The evening spent along the Verdun waterfront was underwhelming and it took a local bar owner calls to 4 taxi's before finding one who was willing to run us back to the hotel. Anyway I digress, nice hotel, nice staff, nice food good time was had by all. Yes I will visit again. Please do not visit if you are fussy or finicky, always comparing places with one another, are not willing to try to speak the lingo. if you want to run your finger around looking for dust go stay somewhere else. if you want room service or instant attention go stay somewhere else. Please leave these quirky laid back places for me and my kind.

Amusing and interesting place top stay and very good restaurant

This little hotel is the product of a lifetime dream by the owner who has built and developed this place over more than 40 years. It has considerable charm and the central building, with its massive slate roof, timber beams, smokey fireplace and many special features is great for a stop near Verdun. WE stayed for two days to tour the Verdun War Sites and we were very content with the nice room, excellent food and charming host.
