Poor rating, reflecting the expensive price charged for the foodWe stumbled across this little restaurant and were at first delighted with the find. It is a tiny restaurant with I think four tables inside and two outside. We chose to sit outside and the views are truly stunning. The lady owner/cook explained the menu and asked if we liked fish to which we said yes . We started with a homemade French onion soup which was lovely . The fish had been simply cooked on an open charcoal grill and was nice . The main course was served with seasonal simply cooked vegetable which again were very nice . We finished with some strawberries . The food was very nice rustic home cooked fayre .We accompanied the meal with half a bottle of wine We enjoyed everything until the bill/ check was presented We were shocked as it was 191 Euros . This is a 3 star rated hotel how can they possibly charge this large amount for a lovely but simple meal !

Hospitality and charmWhere to start! Hospitality and charm! THE LOCATION - perched above a beautiful Mediterranean seascape, viewed from my private terrace and from the dining terrace. GETTING THERE - bus stop 'Les 4 Chemins' is almost outside the door - use Zest bus 100 (Nice to Menton, 1.5 per trip) or Lignes D'azure bus 110 (from just outside the Nice airport terminal, 22). Or the train - a 5 minute walk. If using the train, be aware you'll need to carry your luggage uphill with narrow or non existant footpaths. There's a shortcut via a network of staircases. HELPFUL STAFF - the three ladies, Patricia, Marine and Muriel were always totally helpful and ensured m.y stay was amazing. No question was to hard - they even helped with bus and train timetables and suggestions for sightseeing. THE AREA - wow! Beautiful azure Mediterranean beaches (two), one with its own little cafè right there on the beach. Beautiful walks around Cap Martin and up to the amazing old town (Vieux Village). Hidden amongst the hobbit-like stone nooks and crannies of the old town were some lovely restaurants and cafes. And the view at the top near the chateau were to die for! Well worth the steep climb. Good place to base yourself for visiting Menton, Monaco and Ventimiglia (across the border - nb on Fridays is market day and the trains are packed). THE FOOD - I only had breakfast there, but wow - what a breakfast! I've never been keen on continental breakfast but this one broke the mould. A basket of lovely fresh fruit including cherries, gooseberries, strawberries, apricots, banana and avocado. A basket of fresh warm bread with a croissant and brioche bun. Lovely coffee with warm milk, and a little jug of iced water - all very 'French'. And all in the terrace with the sparkling Mediterranean sea right there! They provide lunch and dinner too. Hôtel Le Roquebrune is definitely a great place to stay!

Very specialThis place is run by a couple which makes it their pride to service you very well. They also made us an amazing lunch. The menu was fixed but who cares when is that delicious. The place itself is like a time capsule from some time ago but that does only add to the charme of the place. Also a fantastic view of the bay This is just something you just have to try.
