    friendly convenient logis

The Relais Aspois is situated on the busy main road between Pau and Zaragoza so during the day expect some lorries to thunder through the village. However at night the noise thankfully decreased greatly and we weren't disturbed. Very friendly welcome and this continued during our stay. Lovely traditional room, good-size bathroom. Small balcony with mountain view. Free wi-fi. Good buffet breakfast and excellent value evening meals~ menus or a la carte. Some reasonable wines Not much private parking space though plenty of public parking within a few yards. Small garden and outdoor eating tables. Good value logis de france convenient for Oloron, a visit to Pau, or Pyrenees mountains/passes

    Neat hotel, helpful staff

The hotel is situated directly on a busy road in Gurmançon, a small village not far from Oloron-Ste-Marie at the foot of the French Pyrenees Very friendly people. We stayed there with a group of cyclists. Unfortunatly, one of us had an accident. The staff of the hotel was so friendly to bring one of us to the hospital to check how he was doing and later that evening to pick up the unfortunate and bring him to the hotel. It was about 10 PM when they returned and yet they fixed him a meal. No extra charge ! The conventional room was neat, not very large, and so was the bathroom, but it had all what you might expect from a hotel in that price range. Evening meal was tasty and plentiful. Breakfast was also ok. Very convenient as a stopover or for staying a few days.

    Quiet, polite staff, good food.

We stayed overnight on our way to Spain. Our room was large. Double bed / en suite with a seperate room with two single beds. Very clean, very quite. The balcony overlooked the garden and a small part of the village. Dinner was very good with an excellent choice of menu. I would recommend the 'Canard'. Breakfast equally so. Very pleasant staff. Would we stay again ? We did on the way back three weeks later !! Enough said.

Very good food but creaky rooms

This is a typical husband and wife run village hotel/restaurant to the south of the town of Oloron. Both were very pleasant people and he spoke some English (we speak French so maybe she speaks English too). The rooms were fairly basic but the big problem was that the floorboards creaked and so did the doors - so unless you go to bed at the same time as your partner you can't creep round without waking them. Everything was clean and servicable. The food was very good and the dining room was full - potential customers were being turned away. If you can put up with the creaks or if you are a foodie you will enjoy this place - don't be put off by my 3 stars as it is at least 3 1/2 - but I reserve 4 and 5 for the very best in all respects.
