    Disappointing stay.

    · The curtains did not meet in the middle by 20cms and we did not know there was an electric shutter and that the curtains were for show only which meant the morning light came in and there was no privacy-there should have been a notice or an obvious button or we should have been told about the electric shutter on our arrival. We could have rung reception about this but we didn't find out until we had returned from our evening meal in St Quentin and wanted to get to sleep rather than wait for a maintenance visit. The dining room was shut on Sunday which we had not been aware of and were not pre-warned on the booking confirmation so we had to drive into St Quentin for an evening meal The room had no tea/coffee making facilities at all There was a pile of dust under the beds. The room smelt musty The breakfast 11 Euros was poor with one small croissant and small bread roll only per person. Only one cup of coffee. One type of jam in a pre-filled plastic pot. very disappointing and far below the standard we have always found in Campaniles.

    2 hours from Calais!

Situated just off the J10 of the A26 near St Quentin, this "Logis" hotel is ideally located in a quiet village some 110 miles from Calais. It was clean and comfortable, the food was excellent, and overall was pleasingly unique.

Very good stay at Le Pot dEtain

Due to our car breaking down we stayed in St Quentin four nights. Le Pot dEtain was a very good choice. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. The Patron speaks very good English along with Madam Natalie who was so helpful. The rooms are typical for a 3 star hotel. The bedrooms are large enough with electric roller shutters. The bathrooms small but adequate and a separate loo. Breakfast is the typical continental but the restaurant food is outstanding and highly recommended.

Perfectly acceptable for an overnight stop

We found this to be a perfectly acceptable little hotel for an overnight stop. Its just under two hours drive from the channel tunnel so it was good place to break our journey from Calais to Strasbourg. Its a French provincial hotel rather than something a little more comfortable/mainstream like a Holiday Inn Express. Id call it clean and functional rather than plush. However, for an overnight stop it was perfectly fine. Theres plenty of free parking at the front, back and side of the property and for our stay in October there were always lots of empty bays. We had lots of choice as where to park and nobody parked next to us. The accommodation is at the rear of the property and the doors to the rooms open onto a covered walkway in the open air ie they dont open onto an internal corridor so its a motel style property. We parked a few metres away from our door. The rooms were large and clean and they had electric blinds on the windows which gave a total black out effect when sleeping. Overnight, there was no noise from next door or from outside. The check-in desk was closed when we arrived and a sign directed us to the bar. The chap that checked us in didnt speak a word of English but we managed to check-in OK. We were however a little concerned as to how easy it would be to use the restaurant given the language barrier. In the event all was fine. The proprietor spoke perfect English and the friendly waitress had a smattering of English vocabulary. The restaurant was very spacious and it wasnt overly busy. I got the feeling that many of the customers were just passing through like we were. Our meal was very nice. You can view the restaurant menu/prices via the hotels website and we found this very useful. The only slight gripe was the cost of breakfast. It was 11 euros per person and I would have expected more of a selection for that price. There was only a limited range of food and drink and we were left feeling rather disappointed. Occasionally a waitress would put one or two fruit salads in the fridge but you had to be quick to get one! All in all, wed have no problem staying here again.

    Would I book again ?

Would I book again , simply no , was just about ok , I would call it a motel , nothing extra. No restaurant on a Sunday , didnt know this until after we booked . Came back at 8.30 as had to drive to find somewhere to eat , and couldnt even get a drink , all closed up . Room was ok , although toilet hadnt been flushed , so not sure it would of been cleaned , I was clearly disappointed
