  Great village hotel - Arrive, check in, chill.

  wonderful hotel in central France, small village, great atmosphere and character, and a very welcome pool. excellent service at all interactions including restaurant, bar and reception, and people willing to help outwit my limited French -this has been an issue elsewhere in France.

  Great stopover

  Had a great stopover in this very nice hotel. Had a large room with a balcony overlooking the garden, which was very comfortable. Very dog-friendly, and easy access to footpaths at the back of the hotel and the river. Dinner was excellent although breakfast was less so (it all seemed a bit chaotic in the kitchen, and bread and croissants didn't seem particularly fresh). All in all a good visit and we would stay here again.

  Very slow service.

  We had lunch here. The service by the male waiter was painfully slow and haphazard. The meal, without cheese course or coffee, lasted 2.5 hours. The food was delicious and the garden setting pleasant.

  An unexpected pleasure!

  After many hours of driving, we were overbooked on arrival at a nearby hotel on a very busy night of the summer season. We quickly booked this hotel, not knowing what to expect and grateful for a bed. When we arrived we needed food and a break and were advised we had just missed lunch. The owner on hearing our rather sorry tale rustled up a simple and tasty lunch and went out of his way from that point to make our stay an enjoyable one. Nothing was too much trouble and the service and good was again, simple, honest and excellent. Thank you for a super, unexpectedly good stay and mostly, thank you for your kindness :)

  Attention Smartbox

  We booked using a Smartbox voucher given to my wife for her birthday. This is a very typical old fashioned and well used ex Logis Hotel. It was very clean, the room comfortable and the meal typical of the type and era. It is a family run hotel and the matriarche an American woman presented us with the additional costs we had incurred above those covered by Smartbox. The bill included a charge for a whole bottle of wine when I had had only a glass and a charge for two full menus. The Smartbox package included a 2 course menu but did not stipulate which courses. Madam said we should have chosen a cheaper menu, we pointed out that we were not given this option to which she blamed her young serving staff even though our order had been taken by her husband. She then went on to criticise Smart box for not reimbursing the hotel sufficiently as if it was our fault. We agreed to pay for our extra starters. The hotel has only recently started using Smartbox to increase uptake which is how we ended up staying there. Sad that her attitude and handling of the situation has left us feeling that we could not recommend staying there especially if you are using Smartbox.
