Great hotel at great priceWe travelled to Vulcano from Catania and only had one night at the island. Le Palme was recommended to us by a local person and it turned out to be a great place for a very good price. The room was clean, well equipped with kitchen. The bathroom was clean with lots of towels and soaps. The A/C was working just fine and the location is two minutes walk from the main street. There is a wonderful bakery across the main entrance selling lovely Sicilian pastry.

OK for the price they askADVANTAGES: + Very close to the port (10 minutes), the Conad supermarket (7 minutes) and two very good bakeries (20 seconds). + The room is very spacious. + The hotel premises are clean and well-looked after. + The very fact that there is a pool is great. It was clean, too, with comfortable sunbeds. + Marco at the reception was very helpful. He managed almost all of the questions and queries we posed. We even had our clothes washed at the property (it was the middle of our 3-week Sicilian tour) and Marco lent us some pepper for cooking. DISADVANTAGES - MOSQUITOS! This is the problem of the whole island, though. Do take some mosquito repellent, because hordes of these animals are everywhere! You wont be able to sleep unless there is that Raid or whatever stuck into the socket We visited in October, btw! If you want to eat outside your room, on the verandah, you need to be protected! - THE KITCHEN really needs to be better equipped: the ladle was microscopic; no kettle; small cups; the sponge was atrocious, so we didnt risk doing the dishes with it. The sauce pans did not have plastic handles and there was no holder for handling the scorching kitchenware. - THE ROOM was not the cleanest. My husband killed three spiders as we moved it (he knows how afraid I am of them). I actually wore my flip-flops in the shower, because the bottom of it was mouldy, and the shower equipment itself was rust-eaten to the core. - NOT ENOUGH TOILETRIES: they gave us ONE toilet paper roll and TWO sachets of shower gel/shampoo for a three nights stay. Its true its a budget hotel, but they could at least warn about it in the description (like they do about the absence of cleaning services while you stay). - NO WI-FI in the room. Only near the pool. - Weird noises can be heard in the room when one of the neighbours turns on the water (like a cat mewing). - The FRIDGE froze the tomatoes solid. It was set at too low a temperature. - There was one thing that we got upset about most though. We actually missed our first night at the hotel, because the ferries were cancelled on that day (we tried leaving from both Messina and Milazzo). So, as a result, we had to pay for the night in Milazzo and for the same night in Vulcano, as the hotel didnt want to make any concessions. We know that the problem with the ferries was not the fault of Le Palme, but they could have at least offered some kind of compensation.

Spacious and excellent value for money, but owner absent...The two of us had an incredible stay at Vulcano, but we spent most of our time exploring the island. While Residence Le Palme provided us a balcony, our own cooking area, and a great deal of space, but the cleanliness and management were disappointing. We reeeally can't complain though, as price was incomparable - just £18 a night for the two of us. Unbelievable. I think the manager could have been a little more attentive and welcoming to our questions/concerns at times, but overall I would recommend it - particularly for families!

Clean and good priceThe residence is okay, nice for a couple of days but no more than that I guess. It is also provided with a swimming pool! Rooms are okay, nothing special but overall clean. Toilet a bit old. I found not enough plugger in the room and no hairdryer provided.
