Nice B&B-like motel, good value and kind hostsWe stayed here for one night and this is one of the better options outside of Auxerre. The hosts were quite friendly and their English was good. The rooms radiate out of a wheel hub, but were quite nice. Airconditioning worked well and parking was free. Would return

No frills quiet on-the-road placeThe hotel is not far from Auxerre and the Chablis vineries and offers a good opportunity for an unexpensive night stay for people that are exploring the region. The structure of the hotel rooms is rather peculiar and has some inconveniences (more like open spaces with just a glass door to the outside garden) but the location is quiet and allows a good night of sleep. The hotel is managed more like a B&B. The hosts were nice and helpful. Breakfast was reasonably good. All things considered, not really a remarkable place, but surely a good deal.

A Little Paradise.I spent two nights here and was enthralled by this hotel. If you want a stereotyped hotel then perhaps this is not for you but to me it was a hotel with a difference. In a lovely rural setting with ample private parking, lovely gardens, trees and clipped hedges, "Le Mas des Lilas" seemed to me to be a little resort in itself. All rooms are ground level and radiate out from the reception area. The owner made me feel very welcome, walking with me to my room and hauling my suitcase for me, then showing me around my room. It felt more like a little chalet with a hedge around a small courtyard at the entrance, complete with chairs and table. The interior was spotless with a large, comfortable bed, air conditioning for which you had the controls, large T.V., desk and chairs and lighting which could be controlled from various points. The en-suite was fitted into the rear of the room in an enclosure that was quite natty. Breakfast was served to the table in a light, airy dining room and was very beautifully presented with full table appointments. I dined here rather than go into Auxerre at night and I had two of the best dinners I have had in France. Two courses, perfectly cooked and presented and served on the little terrace where I could enjoy the soft twilight and watch the day fade away. Before dinner, I enjoyed a leisurely drink and nibbles. The cheese board just for me was so generous that I could not finish it, but the host gave me more bread and a tray on which to take the remaining cheese back to my room, which I enjoyed at leisure in the little courtyard. Auxerre is about ten ks away and is an easy drive. There is pay-parking next to the magnificent cathedral or free, unrestricted parking along the river. The river walk affords wonderful views of the Cathedral, abbey and church. The husband and wife who manage the hotel were lovely people, warm, humorous and welcoming which, especially when you are travelling alone, makes a huge difference. My only regret is that I will probably never be in that part of the world again.

Excellent stopoverThis is a simple but comfortable motel with all that a traveller could desire for an overnight stay. The bedroom was clean and warm. The host was exceedingly helpful and friendly and overall this was excellent value.

No hotel but more a B&BThe room was very small with a bed, one chair and one table. The toilet and shower was in a cabin in the room and also small. Good for one night but not for a longer stay. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very simple and not worth the money.
