    Magnifique Manoir!

What a lovely place! We recently stayed here for 5 nights and had booked the "red studio" which is in a separate building from the main house with its own entrance. Absolutely perfect accommodation for our stay, plenty of room for the 2 of us, very comfy bed and a little kitchenette with a bonus of a fridge....and a kettle! It was all very clean when we arrived and washing up liquid etc was provided which was very useful. It is a beautiful house with lovely gardens and the terrace with swimming pool was a lovely area to sit and relax and enjoy the sun! The host was very pleasant with excellent English and we enjoyed a couple of chats with him. An ample breakfast was served in the main house with all the guests seated together which made it quite interesting especially as we were the only English guests that week, however, between us we managed to get conversations going! Only a few minutes away is La Guérande, a medieval walled town with shops and restaurants, well worth a stroll around, although parking is a little tricky!

    Disappointing

Based on the description in the Sawday's French Special Places to Stay B&B book and the B&B's website, my husband and I booked Le Manoir des Quatre Saisons for 2 nights in July 2018. It seemed quite expensive but we were prepared to pay a little more for the special experience that was advertised. The book describes a "delightful and attentive host Jean Phillipe". He was infact nowhere to be seen during the entire stay - apparently he is an airline pilot and works away a lot. The main house is stunning and set in a lovely garden with plenty of parking however when we arrived the whole place seemed empty. A few minutes after arriving a friend of Jean Phillipe arrived to welcome us and explained that Jean Phillipe was away on business. He kindly showed us to our room and the facilities. We were staying in the red room in the annexe. It was obvious that the room had not been aired before arrival as it felt stale and he had to open the velux windows when we entered. There were dead flies in the crockery and in the bath. The fridge was not on and the room felt as if it had probably had not been used for sometime. The design of the bedroom and bathroom meant that you kept on banging your head (& we are not tall people). The pool was lovely however it was still covered. We had to remove and replace the swimming pool cover ourselves and we were shown how to operate the alarm. There were no towels available by the pool as advertised on the website and was noone there to offer us drinks by the pool as described by the book. At breakfast the first morning we met an elderly lady who we gather was Jean Phillipe's mother as she spoke of her son being an airline pilot, and another nice lady who served us breakfast but who was not introduced to us. The breakfast described in the book did not match the breakfast we received. It was minimal. There were no eggs on offer and the croissants appeared to have been microwaved. On the second morning the gardeners were working on the the hedges immediately outside the breakfast room doors with noisy electric hedge trimmers so it did not feel at all like the leisurely breakfast advertised by the book. Le Manoir is in a great location for discovering the local area. Our expectations were quite high based on its website description and the Sawday's book but the whole place seemed to lack any form of management or "delightful and attentive hosting" as descibed in the advertising. It was as if we had arrived unexpectedly out of season.

    Beautiful place

We stayed in the red room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, The seclusion of the room was wonderful with a balcony to enjoy a glass of wine and read your book. The pool was a welcome addition and provided a welcome relief after the travel. Jean Phillipe and his mother were gracious hosts . The location is perfect for discovering the region and is a nice walk away from the town of La Turballe. I would visit again!

    Perfection

Our second visit to Le Manoir, would it be as good as our first? Even better! A delight from start to finish. Every element was perfection. Our room, the Bluebell was in the main house overlooking the courtyard. Beautifully furnished with a lovely comfortable bed and large bathroom with every convenience as well as all the little extras youd expect in a hotel of this type. The staff were excellent, the food divine and meeting Raymond Blanc was a lovely bonus.

    A wonderful stay

We really enjoyed staying here. The town was charming and so was the bed and breakfast. Our host went above and beyond to accommodate for us, giving us great tips about the area and even driving us to the train station early in the morning on the day we left. You wont regret staying here!
