My new "home" in VientianeExcellent central location on a narrow, secluded alley near temples, restaurants -- and only a 2 minute walk to the lively waterfront. Though the friendly, young staff made a few innocent mistakes and misjudgments, they quickly and sincerely found remedies to my first-world problems. Indeed, the reception staff was the best part of my experience there. The breakfast was good enough (eggs are cooked-to-order); the rooms very clean and well-appointed -- though lacking in one essential contemporary necessity: plentiful electrical outlets (the primary reason why I cannot classify this as "good for business"). Despite these petty criticisms, Le Luxe will be my headquarters on my semi-regular visits to the Lao capital.

Nice setting but loudThe hotel itself is quite nice with a colonial touch. Downstairs rooms are pretty dark. Staff tries to provide a good service. Safety box in my room was not bolted to the wall and could be easily stolen. Unfortunately it becomes very loud at night, especially if you choose a room facing the road. An Irish pub plays loud music till late and the thin glass windows provide close to no noise protection. Tuned motorbikes and drunks kept me awake so I changed the hotel in the end. It's a shame because without the noise it would be a nice little hotel in a good location.

The photographs are absolute lies. DO NOT STAY HEREI would give this a below zero rating, but that's not an option. The photographs shown are complete false advertising from what I saw. I had already locked myself into booking the rooms, based on the representations in these photographs. The room they gave me (and refused to give any others), was absolutely dark, had the stench of mildew, dust and mold, and resembled a dark meth or drug den, rather than a hotel. In other words, those photographs are complete lies, and Trip Advisor should do better than continuing to show them. After I checked in and signed all the forms, they showed me the rooms. I asked if they could move me, but showed me another equally miserable room. I refused to stay there and they seemed shocked, despite these clear mis-representations. I just left and found another hotel nearby. In short, stay here if what you're looking for is the appearance of a basement drug den. Otherwise, you have been warned!!!!

One of the best price/design ratio in VientianeSimply put, Le Luxe Boutique Hotel is one of my favorite hotel in Vientiane. I stayed here since my first visit to the city (just a couple of months when the hotel first opened). The hotel is right next door to the super luxe Ansara. While it's in the city center, it's also tucked away in the small soi so that it's cushioned from crowd and noise. I love the location as it's walkable to a lot of nice restaurants, shops, and cafes that I frequent. Also, I get super good rate here. TIPS: You can contact them directly to book a room. I told them the price I got from online booking and I can usually get 20% lower price. The downside is that some of the rooms start to show its age. I had to stay in the superior room on my first night (since the other rooms were all booked). I could see that some paint starting to peel and the towels had frayed. I highly recommend Executive or Deluxe Room. Those are really nice and had that nice colonial airy design. I hope they will fix up some of those rooms. Besides a very good price, I really love the service. It's not your luxury chain type service but it's very personable. Even though the last time I stayed here was 2 years ago, the two staffs still remember me when I checked in. Wow. But it also speaks volume about how they treat their people when they still have the same staff since they first opened their doors. They just need to fix up some of the signs of wear/tear. That's probably my only quibble. Having said that, Le Luxe will continue to be my go-to place when I visit Vientiane...assuming they don't get booked out (which they seem to do more often than not on my past couple visits).

In urgent need of a refurbThis hotel is in urgent need of a refurb! Especially with all thecompetition in the neighbourhood. It is absolutely NOT clean and staff is disinterested. If you are unlucky to get a room near the front yourestuck with the noise of an Irish Pub across the street.
