    Good skiing, reasonable accommodation

nothing exceptional, but the accommodation worked well for the five of us. What lets it down is little inexpensive touches -like blunt kitchen knives, only one tea towel, no cleaning materials but an obsession with auditing contents and keeping it clean. when we arrived the cleaner was still there (mid-afternoon) and despite waiting for her to finish, it still wasn't particularly clean (we left it cleaner on our departure). It had reasonable mattresses (but not enough pillows) and with a bit of practice we got most equipment to work, perhaps more information could help? it is in a good location for ski lifts and the town had just enough shops, restaurants and bars for the week. perhaps not ideal skiing for complete beginners, but if you can get around on the slopes, lots to explore. We did the pool once and it was small and crowded with not enough changing facilities (10 mins queue) but sauna and steam room seemed fine. would consider going again but a little more attention to some small details would help enormously. One last thing, surely if the Macdonalds in the next town can do free wifi, surely this hotel can? it is 2018, not 1998 after all.

    Ideal location

This is our sixth visit to the Rocher Blanc and at least our 10th to Serre Chevalier. We were going to try somewhere different this year but Serre Che ticks all the boxes for us so we came back and didn't regret it. We usually have the same apartment but this year the owner pipped us to the post! The apartment we did have was virtually the same so we were happy with it. The staff here are helpful and Fabrice the manager is exceptional. The pool was much warmer this year so our swims were more relaxing! The saunas and steam room are great to ease those aching muscles and we would recommend a massage one evening after skiing (extra cost). To answer the previous reviewer, these are apartments not hotel bedrooms so you DO have to provide your own materials. I am quite sure if you asked for another tea towel it would have been provided. As mentioned in previous years, the Rocher Blanc is handy for the ski shop, slopes, bars, restaurants, buses - perfect location. Serre Che is not known for its night life so if you want wild après go to St Anton or Val d'Isère. It suits us well. One beef this year and not the Rocher Blanc's fault but the lift company's. We booked a ride in a piste machine with dinner on the mountain. The evening finishes after the buses stop so we had to organise a taxi. We were happy to do this but only one taxi company out of a list of around 10 given us by the Tourist Office was prepared to collect us - and he came all the way from Briançon! Would we return to the Rocher Blanc - of course we would!

Try to focus on the good stuff

Ok you just spend your first day at le Hameau. Just breathe, relax, enjoy the view, try to focus on your happy place. Keep in mind the good stuff: you are really just steps away from the main gondola or the toddler's ski pen, all restaurants offer decently priced cheese-based plates, plenty of ski related shopping options, a fairly decent nightlife and best of all, Serre Chevalier itself! Just forget that you had to chase down the maintenance guy (designated cleaning staff on a saturday evening) at 8pm to try to get some sheets for the bedroom and towels; all that to figure out that he gave you all singles whereby you need queen, and that there would be one towel for every two guest. Put in your mind's forget compartment that there is absolutely nothing in the apartment other than a crooked pan, a knife and a quarter roll of TP and 4 chairs for a capacity of 6 (PS: bring every basic necessity: rag, paper towel, dish liquid, sponge, salt, garbage bags etc). Just dont bother understanding the logic of renting two units at the same time (9 months in advance) and being offered to have them at complete opposite ends of the complex. And why would you even complain of having to wait until 7pm to get your room's keys, fighting for staff attention amongst the other 40 tired families trying to settle in? Do not question having to beg front office staff for an extra garbage bag or more TP. After all why would you need more? it is your problem you throw out 2-3 diapers daily or have 6 human beings in the apartment! Just reuse or recycle or use public WC! All in all, it will cost you an arm and a leg to book during high season, like serious luxury hotel money for something akin to a crappy backdoor airport hotel. Lagrange Vacances does not even remotely try to match their product and services to the price they demand or should i say ransom they get from you. I do sincerely hope they eventually get investigated for consumer fraud or false advertisement or even simply get their official tourism rating downgraded. Be aware when you book, you need to be (very) low maintenance or have little expectations and just focus that you are in one of the best skying places in the world.

    Disgusting

Please don't book and waste your money... Arrived to our first room following a 3 hour wait, not been cleaned, totally scruffy, poo and wee stains on toilet nothing had been cleaned, outside next to our apartment, security door lock did not work so door left to bang and swing open anyone could have walked in. SECOND APARTMENT was better but still scruffy, knobs missing off doors, smeared glass and mirrors, our double bed was 2 single beds pushed together which you fell through whilst asleep but then obviously awoke. 2 cms of fluff and filth under bed, skirting boards carried 2cms of filth, we had a very tired 9 yr old with us so following our own 2 hour cleaning session, we were able to find some solace. Wouldn't give it a 1* let alone 4*.......shocking

Good location, not enought quality for 4*

Very good location - approx. 200m from gondola and slope. Kitchen with toaster and microwave, but you have to pay for WiFi. Door to the building from the main road what is strange - reception and road to slope are from the opposite side of the building. Only one sauna session per room per day. What was very good, was the possibility to order bagiette fo the next day morning at the reception.
