Filthy moldy rooms, terrible customer service

This was an unexpected stay due to admin issues with travel on the tunnel. It was Christmas eve when we checked in, reception told us there was no restaurant that evening as they had a special dinner, no mention of this when we booked. We tried to order room service for dinner but were told it was not possible, it's not hard to make a sandwich. Nothing was open for miles around, reception did not make any gesture to help us find food either with the kitchen team or with their local knowledge. No customer service focus, no kindness in the dealings. Even McDonalds was closed and we were very stuck. So much for Christmas spirit and good will to all men. Dire. Add to that, the room looked like there was a flood down the walls in the bedroom. The wall paper had peeled off and then been stuck back up but the water damage was still apparent and beneath the wall paper. The dampness gave me very bad asthma in the night. This room, 316, needs renovation, it should not be rented to people as anyone sensitive respiratory system will have issues like I did and still do 2 days later. The bathroom was filthy. Absolutely disgusting. The head of the shower, tiles and grout on the floor was covered in thick black mold. Extremely unhygienic. Even dangerous? We checked out and told reception at 9am and showed pictures, they told us management would be in at 10am and would get back to us. Over a day later and still nothing. More example of the customer service, ha ha. Dire. They need to up their game hugely.

Fine but still need some attention

We stayed one night at the hotel. We were properly greeted and check in was fine. The room was comfortable albeit with some quirks that others have mentioned. The lighting in the room is poor so it is dark. The wooden floor was stained here and there but overall the room was clean. The coffee maker and kettle were a welcome addition. The only issue we had was the room temperature. The windows didnt seal properly so cold air entered the room. It was very windy when we were there so in addition to the cold, the whistling noise from the poorly closing windows was off-putting. For such a « grand hotel », the entrance is pretty dismal especially in front of the revolving doors. It looks unfinished and poorly designed.

30 wedding aniversary - great disappointment. Never again

The parking is inadequate with poor signage. That which is on site is muddy and unmade up. The main car park is some 300 meters away, on the sand dunes. The check-in process is chaotic. On arrival we were told our room wasn't ready. We returned at 3.00 p.m. and by then there were forty plus people in reception trying to check in, many of whom must have been told their rooms weren't ready either, and they were sitting in the lounge and reception area with their luggage, waiting! A lot of ostentatious money has been spent on the common areas: lounge, bar and restaurant but the overall effect is dark and gloomy. Upstairs the lighting along the corridor is gloomy and the carpet is worn. It looked like milk had trickled down a number of the doors to rooms but hadn't been cleared up. Four days before we arrived someone from the hotel telephoned pushing the Valentine Menu for SATURDAY 15th February! When I said I didn't want it and would prefer the a la carte but I was told I would have to have the fixed menu. When we were seated the fixed menu was on the table but there was nothing on it that I wanted. It was very FIXED! When I asked the maitre'd if room service was available, I was offered the a la carte menu but only those items marked with a star! We were seated under one of the speakers. The music choice and volume were not conducive to a relaxing meal. I saw one couple ask to be moved to the other side of the restaurant. This hotel is disappointing and over-priced.

    French Tour Part 2

The room was nice and clean with a very comfortable bed. the only negative was the reception for British channels on the TV. The bar was very spacious and all the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
