  Excellent service, quiet, great location, good size room...

  I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights due to it's proximity to the train station: directly across the street. Perfect location for travelers. Awesome customer service; attentive, personable, caring. The room is a nice size and is quiet with a flat screen tv, a blowdryer, and optional massages including Reiki available for purchase for under 60 euros for one full hour. The hotel is adjacent L'Astrée, a good restaurant according to Trip Advisor reviews and on average around 25+ euros on up. The bathroom was renovated, but not taking functionality into consideration; the glass shower frame covers half the shower, so water gets everywhere. My shower water was lukewarm. When I left they asked how everything was, and I mentioned the water temperature just in case there was a problem for the next guest, and they seemed genuinely concerned and were going to check it out. The toilet was on the opposite side of the room, which is a little inconvenient. Neither the bed nor pillows were comfortable and the sheets were rough. Would I go back? YES. Good location and customer service outweigh any negatives for me. Bathroom amenities included body/bath shampoo, one small bar of soap, q-tips, shoe polish. Bath towel and mat were changed daily, amenities replaced if needed. Sufficient toilet paper. Mini fridge with 6 items you can purchase including water, soft drinks and a twix bar, 2-3 euros each. The rolling shutters are a bit of a challenge and the hotel staff had to do it for me. The rod folds up like a crank and you have to crank it open and closed. I never in a million years would have figured it out. Wifi is free but is 3rd party and includes having to view a commercial every time you reconnect and sign their agreement, but it's free.

  Nice enough

  We arrived in Roanne on our way back to the UK from Provence, not having booked. The hotel looked ok from the outside, the young male receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful, also explaining where the nearest restaurants were located a short walk away. The corridors were a bit jaded, but the large, quiet room was pleasant enough with a good ensuite. Free wifi, private parking for 7 euros. Roanne itself has a reasonable pedestrian shopping area with lots of clothes stores, but the town in general looks like it has seen better days. Hotel was fine for a stopover, also a business trip, especially as the station was over the road.

  Small, convenient, clean, friendly

  Not the loveliest hotel in the world, being directly across the street from the train station, but very friendly, good breakfast, clean rooms and nice bath. Very good value for the price. Next block is the very famous " Trois Gros " restaurant and next door to that is the much more affordable but very delicious " Le Central" which is owned by the same people. Highly recommend it for dinner.

  good value

  I just spend one night across thé street from thé Roanne train station. I spend about 76 euros for a very clean, modern, efficient room with breakfast. thé public rooms are a little frayed at thé edges but charming. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A gréât place to stay for it's convenient location, good price and helpful staff.

  Convenient and Reasonably Priced

  We needed an hotel for a one night stopover and decided on the Grand Hotel. It was clean and staff were friendly and the room was large and met our needs at a reasonable price. We had a room at the back of the hotel and despite the hotel being directly on the main road and in front of the railway station we had a quiet night's sleep. The hotel has a locked and secure car park. It doesn't have its own restaurant, but there are plenty of reasonable places to eat within short walking distance and their breakfast was fine.
