Time warpThe choice of this hotel was to do with logistics rather than any desire to go to this area. We had a rental car to return to a place outside of Montpelier and it made more sense to stay outside than in the centre of town which was full of roadworks and traffic jams. I found the hotel on Trip Advisor and thought it sounded okay. Well, it was like stepping back in time to the 80s. The hotel seemed to have been a holiday hotel and you could imagine it being close to the beach - and perhaps the area was once more appealing. However, the hotel is now in the centre of a commercial zone and is surrounded by wholesalers and car dealerships. The depressing location and aspect of the hotel wasn't enhanced by the lousy weather but there wasn't much that could help this place. The dining room was unattractive and was so dark we could barely see our breakfast. The woman on reception was efficient but, when we couldn't work out the bizarre lighting system in the room, she was positively brusque and irritated that she had to come up to the room and show us. Otherwise, the staff were helpful. It was simple and quick to get from there into the centre of town so at least we didn't have to stay in the are for the evening meal. I would say you should only go there if you absolutely have to. It wasn't horrendous - just not a good experience.

Visit to South of France July 2012We found this hotel in Montpellier on the internet and took a chance. Glad we didn't read the Tripadvisor comments as we found it to be very good. The rooms were spacious and very clean and comfy. The welcome from Jessica at reception couldn't have been better, as were all the staff. The pool was a welcome addition. Yes it is in the middle of an industrial estate, but so are a lot of out-of-town hotels. the restuarant food was not very good, but we found the food in France generally not so good! There was a plentiful choice for breakfast which was much better. The tram into Montpellier stoped almost right outside, and the city was vibrant and lively. An excellent base if you want to take in Montpellier and the local area. Nimes was well worth the drive. We hope to go back some day.

Nice Hotel - could do with updatingFriendly staff, clean, quiet hotel near to tram line, bakery and supermarket. Free parking. 2 Tennis courts, squash courts, outdoor heated pool, indoor jacuzzi, small gym, table tennis. Rooms basic but comfortable. The hotel has potential to be brilliant with a bit of investment and updating but perfect as a base for exploring Montpellier. Didnt use the restaurant as we got breakfast from the bakery down the road, lunch from the supermarket and went into Montpellier for dinner.

Solid, clean, limited frillsThis property is conveniently located near my husband's mother's home. We stayed there twice on our recent trip. It offers many of the conveniences that Americans would expect that are not always options in Europe including adjoining rooms, late night hotel bar, English-speaking staff, and ice available. It's comparable to a Holiday Inn in the US. If you're looking to stay in Montpelier, understand that it's in the suburbs and is a 10 - 15 minute drive from the historic downtown area.
