  Mala opción para alojarse en Cilaos

  La sensación general que desprende este alojamiento es que no es un servicio de 4 estrellas. Fue el primer hotel que visitamos en Reunión. Ya nos advirtieron que la zona de Cilaos no destaca por su oferta hotelera, pero es de obligada visita para los amantes del hiking. La primera impresión fue buena, ya que la recepción está abierta a las zonas comunes, una sala de ambiente muy agradable donde te invitan a tomar una bebida fría mientras rellenas el formulario de admisión y trasladan tus maletas a tu habitación. En esta sala hay un acceso a la piscina climatizada y una zona de juegos con mesa de billar. Cuando nos llevaron a la habitación empezaron realmente los problemas: muebles anticuados y muy estropeados, un baño deprimente y sucio, la televisión ubicada en una esquina donde apenas se ve y muy alejada de la cama, lo que unido a que no tenia mandó a distancia imposibilitaba el poder utilizarla, ropa de cama vieja y agujereada, manchas rojas en el colchón, la señal wifi no llegaba... una habitación más acorde con la categoría de una mala pensión, no un hotel. Por supuesto bajamos a recepción a protestar y, pasada una hora y media, nos cambiaron de habitación. Una verdadera faena esta tardanza, ya que estábamos agotados de un viaje de 24 horas y necesitábamos descansar. Las instalaciones del hotel (piscina, jacuzzi, spa) no las probamos, puesto que salíamos por la mañana temprano y volvíamos por la tarde-noche con ganas de cenar y descansar. El restaurante muy decepcionante. El desayuno tipo buffet muy escaso y no reponían lo suficiente lo que se iba terminando. Unos días había tostadora para el pan y otros no... incomprensible. Un día no había pan, pedimos y nos sacaron una barritas que estaban congeladas por dentro. La profesionalidad del personal que atiende el restaurante es pésima. No hablan inglés, por lo que para una persona alérgica a ciertos alimentos la cuestión de comer se convierte en una peligrosa aventura. Si no hay una mesa preparada no hay problema, te preparan una previa limpieza con la mano de la suciedad que hayan dejado los anteriores comensales. La calidad de los platos servidos no esta acorde con el precio que cobran. Consejo: en el pueblo hay muchos mejores sitios y más económicos para cenar, eso si, cierran a las 20.30-21:00 horas. En líneas generales nuestra sensación no ha sido agradable y no recomendaría a ningún viajero optar por este alojamiento en Cilaos.

  Round Trip

  We got there late in the afternoon for an overnight stay in Cilaos, the first impression of the hotels reception / pool area was pretty decent, a bit plushy but stylish. Check-in went smooth and was possible in enlgish but that was about it. No help was offered with the luggage, which you might expect from a so called 4-star house with the room beeing in the adjacent building to the reception on the 1st floor without an elevator. The room itself is in dire need of a renovation, felt dampish. The furniture is just old, the minibar to noisy to let it plugged in over night. The bathroom is functional but also very dated. My personal favourite was the bed with the worn and saggy v-shaped mattress were you kept rolling towards the middle. We got to the restaurant at about 7.30 pm for some lunch with maybe 3-4 tables beeing already occupied. The waitress decided to seat us direcetly next to the exit / extrance of the kitchen for whatever reason. Communication was only possible in french, after asking for an english menu we got a loose sheet of paper with some of the available food translated into english. The food itself was okay, but for that pricetag one would expect a bit more. After dinner we decided to visit the hotel bar in the reception area just to find the place all dark, desserted and closed up for the night at around 8.45 pm. And finally the breakfast - very basic, nothing fancy you might want to expect from a 4 star hotel. Definitively can't recommend this place

  Poor Service But Nice Views (Pros and Cons)

  POSITIVES: Room was large and the view of the mountains was nice NEGATIVES: Poor service at restaurant and spa. Not the best location in relation to town. Room smelled musty and like insect repellent. Mattress was to soft and old. Deadbolt to room would not work. Door of mini fridge would not close. No elevator. Minimal choices at breakfast.

  Nice stay

  We had a great time in this hotel with my family and friends! Nice staff and decent breakfast . Some of the rooms are still being renovated but the older ones, apart from the flashy colour(it didn't bother us ), were cosy and clean. We didn't try either the SPA or the heated swimming pool .

  Not a four star hotel

  Hotel Le Cilaos is definitely not a four star hotel it seems that it is under fairly new management and has been sort of renovated. It really tries but the service and the rooms are just not what you would except of a four star hotel. The hotel was not very busy and the room we got had a really strange layout long and narrow. There were hardly any lamps in the room, so it was so dark. We tried to move the one lamp around the room, but there were no plugs so that was not an option. The bed was very comfortable. We wanted to have dinner at the hotel and were told the restaurant opened at 7:30 PM. When we came at 7:30 PM, the door was locked and we were not the only guests waiting. We could see they were busy setting up the buffet for the dinner service and they did unlock the door after 7-8 minutes, but it was still a little strange. The food was good though, but the service not the best. All in all it was a bit of a strange place.
