    Be a part of history

Beautiful Chateau, wonderfully restored. Baron Phillip and his wife have made it labor of love to preserve the history for all of us. Baron's family has lived in this castle for 200 years but the castle history goes back to more than 2000 years. Rooms are simple but modern and historical at the same time. The true gem of the castle is the Baron who will make you feel like a member of his family. If you stay there, take some time to visit the small French village that conspires with castle to take you back in time.

Lovely Chateau - as in Castle, not House

This is a lovely small castle. The owners are accommodating. However I would not stay here unless you can handle winding spiral stone castle stairs. Be sure to get one of the larger rooms. They do have rooms one floor up. The grounds are beautiful. It was easy to visualize people through the ages riding their horses.

    Disappointing.

Beautiful Chateau situated in a serene location. Unfortuanely leaving early due to impolite unhelpful staff, the baroness is extremely rude and disagreeable. Cleanliness of the room to be ameliorated as it was dusty in places, cobwebs etc. Breakfast was mediocre, as viennoiseries werent fresh. Terrible start to our holiday, will not be returning.

    Won't be coming back

We booked this hotel for 2 nights due to a wedding party. Although a fairly nice welcome, we did not feel well hosted during the rest of our stay. The Lady asked us what time we would prefer breakfast and when we suggested 10 - 11am, to which she responded that we needed to have breakfast by 9am as they need to prepare for the wedding. Breakfast was really basicthere wasnt even an egg or fresh milk in sight. The room we had was decent - good amount of space and fairly clean (no shower) but the bed mattresses were awful. It was like sleeping on the stone steps leading up to the room! Could not get wifi in our room. The groom from the wedding party had previously requested a room to freshen up in and was told on the day that he could not use the room as the cleaners had not arrived. The hotel was not full! At 11am on the day of check out - we had the owners banging down our door to let us know we needed to pay and leave the premises. We asked if we could leave our luggage as we had a while until our flight and was told that theyd be locking up reception so it was not possible. In the end, not very hospitable - it felt like we were a nuisance to the owners and they did not need our money.

    Historic castle in the countryside

If you are expecting a 5-star hotel, then you will be disappointed with this REAL castle with many historic ties. It lies in the country about 18km west of Strasbourg and the elderly proprietors are actually royalty. The guest rooms have been refurbished and the castle grounds are beautiful, especially in the morning fog. You can walk into the little town of Osthoffen and other neighboring towns are only a few minutes away in any direction. You can even catch the bus into downtown Strasbourg (highly recommended) for a couple of Euros. This way you get to see the sights of little villages on the way to Strasbourg and eliminate the headache of finding parking in Strasbourg with its notoriously poor parking. If you strike up a conversation with the Baroness at the chateau, you get quite an interesting rendering of castle life. (She is Scottish, by the way.) No, there is not a big breakfast buffet with hot items, but it is more than a continental breakfast and the coffee is strong (French roast). Think more like you are a guest in someone's chateau, not in a hotel, and you will get what you expect. I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every one. The nights are dark, you can see thousands of stars and the quietness is amazing.
