Typical French small town hotel, but with a superb restaurantThe hotel is located in the centre of the town next to the church and the boulangerie. Thankfully the church clock runs in silent mode between 8pm and 7am so doesn't get in the way of a good night's sleep. The rooms are clean and well maintained, if a little basic. The staff are friendly but the initial welcome could have included being conducted to our room - this would have avoided us having to point out that the landing lights hadn't been switched on, or ask where the second set of towels was located. Breakfast, served in the bar, was a self-service affair and included all the usual elements. The real surprise was the attached restaurant which initially seemed a little unwelcoming and seemed to promise little that wasn't average. The presentation and quality of the food was, however, exceptional and we were very pleased we had the opportunity to eat there on a second night.

Decent hotel, big hill! The last thing you want to do after a hard days cycling is climb up a wacking great hill, but you'll have to do that here because someone decided to build a town on top of the hill. We got a warm welcome from the owners and were shown to our room which was fine. The hotel has been partly renovated so they redecorated the walls but left the old stained carpet. It was very clean though and we had no complaints, apart from the fact that all French hotels on the Loire cost much more than the German Elbe hotels we stayed at last year - pint of beer in Germany 2-3, here 6!, similar hotel in Germany 60-70 including breakfast, here 100+. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good, if not exceptional, but fair value at 23.50 for three courses. The breakfast was poor value at 11, we had much better for less money elsewhere. The croissants ran out before half the guests had started and there seemed no willingness to refill, even though there was a bakers just across the road. As Loire hotels go, this is OK, shame about that hill!

Central location but fairly basicWe stayed as part of a cycling tour during a hot spell in July 2019. The town is up a steep hill so the absence of AC in the room was a major negative for us. The room was also somewhat small for a family of 3 especially as a connecting room could have been made available as the hotel appeared quite quiet. The hotel restaurant was good and the staff tried to be helpful.

Lovely friendly hotel in good locationVery good room and helpful and friendly staff. Excellent restaurant with good food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Also only a 2 minute walk to the viewpoint over the river. Location ideal. Ideal starting base for touring the Loire Valley (West to East)
