Fabulous 4 day visit to Lapland staying at Hetta hotelJust sitting in the airport waiting to return home following 4 magical days staying in Hetta hotel It may be a 2 hour transfer however well worth the travel as the surroundings are incredible Day 2 we had our taster sessions 2 hours of trying out hussky rides reindeer sleighs, toboggan runs and snowmobiles only the visitors from Hetta were at the park TUI team in the hotel were great and kept my little boy aged 7 entertained through day and on an evening Our visit to meet santa was lovely finished by an evening of singing pantomime and fireworks I am aware this hotel doesn't have many reviews but I have to say I would return again it was more than we could have ever imagined !

Fab hotelVery few reviews so thought Id better leave one, we stayed from 16th Dec for 3 nights booked through TUI from Manchester. Flight Outbound - check in was quick and boarding too, plane was decorated and cabin crew dressed in Christmas jumpers. Nice surprise to be given a meal onboard and the games, carols and competitions were fab to get everyone super excited. On arrival we were treated to singing reps and lots of naughty excitable elves which was fab, luggage came quickly and we found our coach thanks to Charlie Christmas. Naughty elves started a mass snow ball fight which both my children absolutely loved. Warehouse where you get given all your thermals is right next to the coach park then straight back on the coach for the 2 hours transfer. Transfer - Reps are fabulous on the coach making the journey seem a lot shorter, scenery is just so magical. Hotel - check in was quick and we were shown where are bungalow was, we stayed in a 2 bedroomed bungalow over the road from the hotel which yes is dated but large, comfy and contains everything you need plus more (including sauna which was a lovely bonus). Kitchen has everything you need to cook if you choose to. It can get a little warm inside so no thermal pjs needed. We were in Bungalow E which has an excellent sledging slope right by the front door much to my twos excitement. Frozen lake at the back of the hotel is where most of the day time entrainment takes place with lots of slopes for more sledging. Food - it isnt great but we didnt go hungry and packed snacks, pot noodles etc in our cases which we had for lunch. Drinks are expensive but expected. Gala meal was a bit disappointing as youre all asked to go at 7pm which meant food ran out quickly and the kitchen didnt seem to replenish it until they were asked and we didnt get vegetables due to this. Santa - bit disappointing to be honest as its in a room within the hotel and not a log cabin in the forest even though the hotel is surrounded by forest. Santa himself was fab and even are 12yr old non believer came out with how did he know that questions. Tui reps Charlie Christmas, Snow dog dan etc do an amazing job from start to finish, cant do enough to keep the children entertained, excited and are a credit to TUI. Taster sessions were fabulous, done in small groups and given 2 hours to try everything (we managed 2 goes on snow mobiles and huskies) plus the reindeer and numerous sledge races with Snow Flake the elf. Hot berry juice and ginger biscuits also provided. Would we go again, yes we would because its just magical. Lucky enough to see the northern lights too on our last night which was just the icing on the cake.

an older hotel good for expeditions and tours around HettaThis is a bit of rustic and dated hotel in the chain of Lapland Hotels. It could do with a makeover, but it would take away the charm of forgone glory. The breakfast is standard. The dinner was good and the waitress even better; very friendly. There is a sauna you can use (separated for male and female). The bed was comfortable and the room too warm, so we had to open the window a bit. The Scandinavian bathrooms. I have been here on holiday numerous times, even lived in Sweden for 4 years. But why can't they make a bathroom that doesn't get totally wet when you take a shower? Ok, this one was not even the worst one; the water just didn't reach the toilet.

Great Hotel (Santa experience lacking with TUI)Firstly, the accomodation was comfortable and the staff welcoming. The rooms were basic but very comfortable, although the bathrooms could benefit from an update. The location is stunning and so peaceful, on the edge of a frozen lake and a 15 minute walk into the village (which has a supermarket and burger "shack".) Beware, it is a 2 hour transfer from the airport in the winter! The food in the restaurant was varied and tasty with plenty of choice from the self service buffet (although the gala night didn't offer anything more than the other nights except crackers on the table.) We visited in December for the Lapland Santa experience with TUI. However, unlike when we stayed in Levi, the second day of our trip was very disappointing!! The "elf Workshop" was a couple of kids reps dressed up and once your child had decorated a biscuit and put glitter on a paper decoration, that was it!! No trip to find Santa in his village (as you get in other resorts) which is magical and the whole reason why you go! But Santa just visited during the "gala dinner" and was sat in the bar. He was authentic, but the magic was seriously lost. I would recommend this hotel, but I would not recommend you travel here for the Father Christmas experience, and if choosing to travel with TUI ask them very specifically how you are to spend the second day of your trip whichever resort you choose.

Christmas in FinlandStayed in this wonderful location for Xmas 2019. Hetta is further north than the more popular places to stay in Finland but do not overlook this area. Dont be put off by its seemingly remote location, this is a beautiful village with amazing people & the hotel & staff are tremendous. We enjoyed a 3 night stay here for Christmas & could not find fault if I wanted to! From the moment we arrived the staff & TUI reps could not do enough for us, the location of the hotel is stunning, huge frozen lake & every window is like looking at a Christmas card. The facilities are 1st rate, bar & restaurant are excellent, food was very good with something for everyone. One of our party could only eat gluten free which was not a problem, everyone is catered for & nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious & very comfortable & clean, our room was overlooking the lake & opening the curtains every morning was a joy. The village itself is beautiful, large supermarket with everything you could want within comfortable walking distance for all. There is an excellent ski slope just a 10min walk away, which was great for sledging. Would always highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a magical Lapland experience in more peaceful breathtaking surroundings. Wouldnt hesitate to book here again.
