    Worth a visit

This is a 3-star hotel in a 5-star location. You could hardly be closer to the river, unless if you were on a boat. I would recommend it, however, only if you have a vehicle. Its a long walk from St. Goar (with luggage). We had the panorama suite (room #8). The view was fantastic, and the room was almost too large. The bathroom is first-rate. We had dinner in the restaurant twice, again with incredible views. The food was very good, although the number of choices were a bit limited in my opinion. Service was satisfactory. Highly recommend the hike up the hill to St. Goar, if you have the energy and time (2-3 hours). The views along the way are spectacular, and the trail is nicely shaded and well developed. Breakfast buffet is average.

    Good hotel in brilliant location

We were warmly greeted on our arrival and shown to our room in the eaves of the hotel. It was to our surprise an apartment complete with living room, kitchen and separate bedroom. There were several roof windows giving excellent views of the Rhein from the living room. A garage was provided free of charge for our motorcycle. The hotel has a dinning room overlooking the river and an outdoor terrace complete with large umbrellas to provide shade. Our half board deal included a four course meal and a wine tasting. Breakfast was excellent and most enjoyable sitting by the river. The bedroom was very hot during the night, portable air conditioning was provided but was noisy to use, there was also noise from the railway if you opened the window. However the location is so good We will certainly visit again but try to get a riverside room.

    Rustic Restaurant at the River

Very few Restaurant have a comparable position, next to the River Banks with views to the "Maus" castle. Decorated in the typical old German style you will find great food and service. A warm hospitality combined with some creativity in the menu (e.g. Baked goats cheese on pineapple carpaccio). The family runs it's own wine farm. The wine is excellent. They won the medal "Best wine Farms in Germany" in 2014.

The Restaurant is OK, the Rooms are the Pits

The advertised air conditioning is at best ineffectual. Our room was 86F at 10:30 PM., and the controls are at the front desk. If you want to change it you have to walk down since there is no telephone in the room. You cant open the windows because of the bugs. The hotels outdoor lighting shines through the thin drapes. There is no elevator so if you are on the second floor (US-3rd floor) you must drag your luggage up. And WiFi in so slow most websites will kick you off. The restaurant was alright, not good enough to warrant a trip, but was a passable meal on a very nice terrace..

    Back again

We arrive at the hotel and were given the keys to a room that we found was on the top floor in the eaves of the roof with limited headroom on the steep stairs. Although we had booked a double room this was a family room with 2 bedrooms. There was an airconditioning unit in the room that worked well bit meant that you could not have the windows open. The view of the Rhein were great from the room. The main problem with the room was the noise from the railway lines on both sides of the river, this was continious through the night. The restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was very good. There was a great terrace overlooking the river. Wine was available to buy by the case from the owners own vinyard. We would happily stay in the hotel again if we could guarantee a less noisy room.
