Something wrong with the food we thinkWe went there 2 families with 1 and with 2 children. Everything seemed ok at the beginning. Nice facilities, English speaking managers, heated indoor pool (small but enough for our children), 25 .C outdoor heated pool, and Jacuzzi at 36 .C and plenty of food for our halfboard booking. (We book through Dertour website, Internet reservation and no interaction with anyone). We checked the Hotel on all websites reviews and the ratio price per services and facilities was acceptable. Reviews regard only the extra services that you have to pay in the hotel. Also Zell am Ziler village is well positioned in the middle of Zillertal ski area. One can ski up and down or from left to right Zillertal area very easy and economically. Take into account great transportation services in Austrian Alps that include free buses, free shuttle train, good roads etc. It happened that during our stay of 10 days three of the adults and two of the children got sick with stomach problems. Not all of them at the time. When getting home we saw our family doctor to get usual treatment for stomach disorders. We dont know exactly what happened. Could be the synthetically food , just a few items were organic food but most of them comes off the shelf of the supermarket and usually for Kinder Menu, could be too much ski effort and pool swimming combined with too many cookies and sweets but it is weird that happened to both families. Stomach disorders affects your mood and holiday fun. Take care you have to pay extra for drinks at dinner, for bathrobe if you need at the pool, for Internet and for the electronic games in the kids room, every time a few Euros. We asked for the program of the hotel guest skibus, they didnt give us any and during our stay we simply cannot get this hotel skibus. Finally we choose to use our own cars to go to ski. Not to forget the smoke in lobby disturbed us also a little bit and the thin walls of the room. Take care that there is a habit during nights, in most of the accomodations in Alps, to stop the central heating. Sometimes you may sleep better but if you have children could be quite cold for them in the room. Its winter time. We go on holiday very often in Austria and nevertheless we felt OK.

Comfortable 4 star hotel in the ZillertalMy family of 4 stayed together with a larger ski group for a longer weekend in the Zapfenhof. The service was outstanding and the food was good. We had a Junior Suite on the second floor. The rooms are okay but differ a lot in quality and size. If you visit the quite large sauna area or the pools don't forget to bring your towels from the room. There are no other ones available. We liked the wellness area and the friendly staff and owners. The massages my family and I took had been very good. Drawbacks are the costly internet access and the extra charge for bathrobes and slippers. We didn't expect that from a 4 star hotel. Our overall impression was very good. I recommend the hotel for a comfortable stay with your family for skiing or hiking in the summer.

Family hotel at heartBeautiful hotel in a peaceful village in Austria. Very focussed on families and children. Comfortable but a little out dated rooms. Nice swimmingpool and spa, great breakfast and diner. We visited the hotel in summer but my companions assured me this is a nice place in winter as well. This was our second visit and I am sure we will come back next year.

Nice place, a bit too rusticThe hotel had good rooms, and Great wellness. It offers reasonable food, and the staff is okay. The hotel is some 20 minutes from the village but offers a friendly shuttle to the ski lifts, but on the Saturday. Ski bus stops in front of the hotel.
