A lovely findWe have just returned from 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. We stayed in room 37 after paying to upgrade. The hotel was recently taken over but do not let this put you off. the new owners have lots of plans to improve the hotel. The staff are very efficient and nothing is too much trouble. - Remko and the lady at reception (who is a Jon Legend fan)are a real asset to the hotel. We ate in the restaurant each night - food menu was fairly limited ( this is a start up situation) but very good and adequate. Amazing reception rooms. Beautiful area. Easy to be based here and travel to Maastricht or Aachen. Ok the road to the hotel is very pot holed and badly needs resurfacing but there are plans for this. Don't let it put you off. We will definitely return next year. Loved our visit. Thank you

Nostalgic Holiday in BelgiumAmazing experienced in this 13th century castle. Nice and friendly staff. Having to stay here let me feel the ambience of 13th century. Laid my hands on the bricked walls that shows the aged castle.Nice sorroundings too.

Its a remarkable spot in Belgium, difficult to findThe hotel definitely needs maintenance, and I mean a complete outside painting and renovation. Road signs underway are non-existent and GPS is not reliable. The rooms are old English style but there is no airco, no coffee machine and no safe in the room. The bathroom is beside the shower a drama. Beds are perfect and the view is great, staff is very friendly. Breakfast is good but the coffee is lousy!! We didn't book dinner. The large patio is great but before it honestly can be recommended the reception and outside must be upgraded. Prices now are over the top.

Picture perfect slice of heavenThis hotel oozes history and nature. Its picturesque and well maintained and it was a wonderful place to stay for three nights. The roads getting here are narrow (and to be fair we had to take a 15km detour due to road works so have many map options open if you drive here) but it was worth it. Check In is very definitely only from 2pm so be prepared to have a sit and drink if you arrive early. The rooms are generous and spacious and have everything you could need on a trip. The restaurant serves a tasting menu that we tried and had a wine pairing alongside. Its a long evening of eating but something you should try at least once. Breakfasts are continental style and generous. This is a great hotel to get away from the hustle and bustle and great place to be based if you wish to explore the Dutch and Belgium countryside.

They got it so wrong...I just had a very unpleasant stay at this hotel. The young lady who had brought me to my room had told me that there would be a hair dryer and that all drinks in the mini bar were included in the price. Only, there was no hair dryer to be found and there was no bottle opener to be found. My next door neighbour also did not have a bottle opener. I was thirsty and drank from the sink. In the evening, we had dinner at the hotel. Dinner took hours to be served. My starter, vegetable tempura, came ouf of the fridge. The main dish, fish, was so much fried that it was dry. The spoonful of mashed potatoes was stone cold. In the morning, I had to shower with stone cold water. Breakfast did not meet the very promising price of 16.5 EUR. My coffee cup was smudged with lipstick or something alike. I found this disgusting because I had drank from it. Tables were left used for too long. When I had intended to check out, I gave up several times because of the queue at the reception desk that would just not move. Service was extremely slow with only one person for checkout on a Sunday morning. I realised that every single customer checking out had one or more serious complaints about their experience. The hotel manager was absent. I finally managed to check out and explained to the young receptionist what my grievances were (he omitted to ask me if I enjoyed my stay). By that time he was ready to hide under his desk because of all the complaints he had had to endure. Like the previous unhappy customers he also offered me a little box of chocolates as a final token of goodwill. I cannot accept a bill of 109 EUR + taxes and handling fee for this level of service.
