  Paradise in the Odenwald

  Wonderful hotel off the beaten path in the Odenwald. Great views from our room with a lovely balcony. No lift. Lovely bed. Great food in the restaurant. There were good signs to assist with locating the hotel. It is in a residential area on top of a hill overlooking the valley. There was a spa in the hotel which we did not have enough time to utilize. There are a lot of walking paths nearby. Jochen May is a wonderful host and speaks very good English. They are very accommodating. This is a resort utilized mostly by Germans. The rooms were spacious by European standards. Very clean. The food in the restaurant is outstanding.

  Fantastic service, Wonderful ridge top location with a valley view

  The owners and his staff treated us like royalty during our four day stay at Hotel Berghof. All of our question about the area were answered, if they did not know they would call someone to get the answer for us. Fantastic friendly service makes any stay more enjoyable. The location is on a ridge that overlooks the village, offering views of the town below, the wide green valley and forested hills beyond. We could watch the storm clouds move in and out of the valley from our balcony. The wall of windows onto the balcony allowed us to look out but being higher than the surrounding houses, no one could look in. No plastic credit cards to access your room, no, its the old fashioned key that gets you into the hotel at night and into your room. At night you lock your door from the inside and leave the key in the lock. That way no one can insert a key from the outside while your key is inserted on the inside. That said, we never felt unsafe or worried about security here. One, Rimbach has a very low crime rate, second, the hotel itself is far enough from the city centre so that it is not an attractive target for criminals. The room was very clean and comfortable, efficient housekeeping service, they always came when we were at breakfast, they must have watched to see when we were out and quickly replaced wet towels, made the beds and were gone when we came back. Hotel has fast wifi service. The breakfast offering was typical European style with cured meats, various cheeses, fresh breads, cereals, eggs, local jams, juice, seasonal fruits and vegetables, with of course, tea or coffee. If you have the opportunity to stay in or near Rimbach, there is no other place better than Hotel Berghof to lay your head.

  A true gem in the Odenwald!

  We loved our stay at the Berghof. We had a very well appointed and comfortable ground floor room with large windows and a large balcony with a very nice view of the surrounding countryside. Beds were very comfortable (my wife's was fully adjustable!), and the bathroom was very clean and had all the necessary conveniences. Very quiet. The host spoke perfect English and was very friendly. We loved the excellent buffet breakfast - the best one we had during our stay in Germany!!

  Better than expected

  The view was magnificent. My room was on the second floor (the highest) and I could observe very peaceful German landscape: hills, houses, fields and railway far away. Very quiet. Real escape. The room itself was classic, clean and good. The balcony is spacious. I have really enjoyed just sitting and watching. I dont give 5 stars, because the beds were too soft, not comfortable for me. The breakfast offered good variety of cheeses, very tasty cold salmon, meat of different types and the best Cappuccino I have ever taster in Germany. I wish there would be some hot dishes, like eggs and/or sausages. But it was very good anyway.

  Great Inn

  Stayed here for the Christmas holidays. This is a nice little Inn. Rooms are clean and so are the bathrooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This place offers a little breakfast buffet in the mornings. It has a few things to offer from smoked salmon to hardboiled eggs and cold cuts. I definitely come back here when in the area.
