Great family oriented hotel, close to beach

Hotel Lalla is walkable from the ferry pier ( requires a small canal crossing @ 80 euro cents) and also a flat walk to the Cesenatico train station. The breakfast supplied was ample and the other guests very welcoming as we appeared to be the only non Italians staying at the time. Very much a family hotel with families of several generations dining together, and chatting in the seating areas provided out front of the Hotel. The beach area is covered with umbrellas and lounges as far as the eye can see with everyone appearing to have a great holiday.

    A place to be

First of all I have to say thank You! I had a medical problem at the day of arrival and the hotel owners really have been a big help! Waiting on the room for the doctor to arrive they even offered me a soup, that's hospitality on it's best! The hotel is nice and in a good shape, everything looks fresh and modern. The air conditioned rooms are a little small but for a summer holiday absolutely okay. The breakfast was fine, almost all You need was present and refilled if necessary. The only thing we have not found (and to be fair also not asked for) was the possibility to get the bread toasted. The daily varying menus for dinner and lunch have been delicious and we have really been satisfied. For sure Hotel Lalla is a place to stay again! Mille grazie!

    Not bad

Everything in this hotel is average. Good for the money you have to pay but nothing special. Service is ok. Breakfast is just cold and no variations. Rooms are ok. The airconditioning is good though. Very easy and good working. Location is good too. Nice hotel if you're not spending lots of time in the hotel itself

    Dreadful

The problems started as soon as we arrived at reception. Although we had booked our superior room a year ago the manager and his assistant seemed surprised to see us. They clearly did not have a room allocated to us and didn't know which room to put us in. After some deliberation we were put on the fourth floor, in the roof, into room 412 which was not properly made up. If it was a superior room I would not want to see what the standard ones were like. We were given a piece of paper telling us the wifi code and breakfast times but it did not mention other crucial information. The hotel has lots of facilities but none mentioned to us. I asked about the parking, which TripAdvisor indicates there is and was one of the reasons I picked this hotel. I knew how difficult street parking in Cesenatico can be. The manager told me that there is none. I was then asked if we had a motorcycle, perhaps our crash helmets gave him that idea. He then let me park the bike next to the rubbish bin at the side of the hotel, which was better than nothing. We then went to the room. Rooms on other floors have balconies, on the fourth floor they don't. Superior? On the fourth floor they have a washing line extending from the window but with just three pegs that's next to useless. The carpet on the fourth floor corridor was badly stained and didn't look clean. The walk in shower was constrained by the slope of the roof making it difficult to use. I am six foot tall and anyone taller would find it impossible. The water had little pressure and was never really hot. It was not particularly clean with mould and dirt where the wall and floor tiles met. The toilet roll holder was missing its spindle making it useless. The plug in the sink would not seal so it would not fill with water. I fixed this by pushing hard on the plug but the mechanism for lifting and lowering it was clearly faulty. The water in the sink was permanently tepid, not ideal when cleaning your teeth. The light had no light shade, leaving the bulb and wires exposed. No bath towels were provided until the second day. We tried using the wifi. Not surprisingly we used the network Hotel Lalla. We couldn't sign in. On going to reception we were then told the network to use was, inexplicably, OrlyPiano3_A. Of two mobile phones, a tablet and a Kindle only the Kindle ever found this network and the signal was so weak as to be more or less unusable. We went back to the ground floor and found a nice swimming pool and a gym. We never found the relax and beauty centre. The next morning we went down to breakfast. We went to go into the dining room on the logical assumption that that's where breakfast would be. Wrong! We were sent next door to the Hotel Orly. Wifi mystery solved and no wonder that we couldn't get a signal. The Hotel Orly had a sign saying check in at the Lalla so they are obviously connected. In the breakfast room the same lackadaisical attitude was shown by the staff. It was not clear which tables should be used, none seemed set in any way. We found one that was bare and sat there. Ten minutes later all the tables were occupied and guests coming in had to wait. Fruit juice had to be poured from the carton into a miniscule plastic glass. We looked everywhere for bread, there was none. When asked where it was the waitress just wandered off. A few minutes later a basket of different breads appeared. How long it would have taken them to realise there was none is anyone's guess, they certainly were hopeless in keeping the plate of ham and cheese topped up. There was some nice bread that would have been ideal for toasting, if only there had been a toaster. On the third day breakfast was suddenly in the Lalla. This time some of the tables seemed set for lunch, some had room numbers, but not all and our room number was no where to be found. We picked a table and just got on with it. At least the glasses on some tables meant we didn't have to use the stupid plastic glasses. Again they were slow to replenish items that had been finished. I noticed guests having to ask. On the fourth and thankfully final day there were no room numbers and no tables were set in any way. After breakfast on the third morning we spent the morning on the beach and came back to our room at about one o'clock. It hadn't been serviced. After changing to go out for lunch we walked down the stairs to see where the cleaning staff were. There were none. I complained to the manager. He didn't seem to believe me showing me the sheet that had been ticked to indicate that the room had been done. Why he would think I would say the room had not been cleaned if it had been is incomprehensible to me. There was barely an apology but it had been done by the time we got back. However, the two dead spiders that had been on the wall throughout our stay were still there which shows how perfunctory is the cleaning. We love Cesenatico and will be back but not to the Hotel Lalla.
