Excellent HolidayJust returned from a 6 day break at this hotel with National Holidays. The hotel was clean and warm and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was very hot and value for money the rooms were clean and the water very hot. The bar was professionally run by Kayleigh every night with no queues for drinks despite having 130 Irish School children in! Well done Kayleigh and thanks also to Ericka for a lovely holiday.,

Excellent staffWe visited this hotel as part of a coach trip with Caledonian Travel and having read some of the hotel reviews were a bit dubious about booking the trip at all. We are so glad we decided to go ahead. The entire trip was excellent and the hotel was so much better than expected. The rooms were a bit on the small side, but perfectly adequate with spotlessly clean bedding and all you need for a comfortable stay. Rooms were done each day with fresh towels. My only real quibble with the room was that we were given two bath towels - one each - but no hand towel. If visiting this hotel, I recommend you take a hand towel with you. We were on half board with contintental breakfast which was as expected. Dinner in the evening was fine. Not much choice but what was on offer was plentiful, well cooked and tasty. What makes this hotel a real gem is the staff. From the reception to the dining room to the bar, everyone is friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile to make your stay a good one. We had a free bar on three evenings and were pleasantly surprised with the choice on offer and the readiness of Kayleigh to serve drinks, chat and clear the glasses and tables all at the same time and with such a warm smile. To those who have complained about the hotel I would say, if you want five star service go to a five star hotel and pay five star prices. If you are considering this trip (Amsterdam and the Dutch Coast) book with confidence. If you are travelling independently, don't be put off with negative comments. A final note: our stay at the hotel coincided with a group of 150 Dublin schoolchildren. We were much put off when we arrived to find this, but found them to be charming, friendly and well behaved. On their last night they had a hallowe'en disco and it was great fun to see their various costumes. As they were using the same bar as we were (soft drinks only of course - at least for the pupils!), the hotel extended our free bar to make up for the disruption. This was an excellent gesture of good will that was appreciated but not necessary. Our bar service had not been adversely affected by the school. All in all an excellent hotel for the type of trip we were on.

Amsterdam - Tour of Europe 2015Wife booked a tour for the both of us to Europe and what a trip it was, made great friends This hotel has most of it rooms facing the lake, I brought beer from a wine supermart and did not have to chill the same as the balcony of the room itself was like a freezer cold wind blowing and what a site to see, in the morning even more beautiful The young lady at the reception was very sweet and amazing, we reached one day earlier for the tour to start and hence had to book our own accommodation. the bar was sprawling with other tourists, the food was wow from cold cuts to meats to steak All in all and excellent stay

Return visitHad another brilliant long weekend at Lakeland. Staff are brillian, food is lovely, rooms clean and beds very comfortable. A great place to use as a base if your visiting Amsterdam and the local area. Buses to and from Amsterdam are a five minute walk or a taxi ride away. Monnickendam is a short walk and is a wonderful place full of shopsbars and eateries. Apparently it is going to be demolished and rebuilt fingers crossed it doesnt loose its charm.
