  It's oh so quiet Shh shh

  This really is a marmite place. I knew i was going to be late, so I messaged the owner to let them know. They were responsive and very polite. I couldnt find the place, satnav sent me in a 60km circle only for me to ignore it and use google maps via that well know hotel booking site. On arrival approx. 9:30pm i wasn't sure I was at the right place. i rang the bell and we greeted by the owner who perhaps understandably didnt realise I was concerned i was at the wrong place. Perhaps better signage (if possible) might help, and kick the satnav. That said, i checked in very quickly and went to the room. It was plush and definiatly a high standard. The bed was a dream, the quilt reminded me of home.. and i slept so well.. it was peaceful.. the quality of sleep i had i haven't experienced in other accommadation for a long time. There was a scheduled time for breakfast. On arrival we didnt know what to expect.. The hosts/owner provided a super breakfast.. after such a long trip bacon.. the smell of bacon, the taste of good quality bacon. If i was a little helpful to the owners.. the scheduling / clearing of items does create uncertainty what is what. After breakfast I had a very long conversation with the owner on New Zealand and the UK. It really was nice.. thank you for your time. Now while some, like me like the lodge, some might not.. to me it is a little gem.

  Amazing Bed and Breakfast with Amazing Hosts

  Wow what can we say. We went here on our honeymoon from the US, and had a phenomenal stay. The hosts are very accommodating, cook you fresh breakfast every morning regardless of what time you get up, make recommendations about where to go and what to see within the North Island of New Zealand, and treated us as if we were family. Not only would I stay here again, if we return to New Zealand, this will be an absolute must! I highly recommend this place to anyone. It can be a bit tricky to find, but it is definitely worth the views and accommodations. I may say that this was my favorite Bed and Breakfast that I have ever stayed at in the entire world!   Wonderful stay while doing Hobbiton and Waitomo caves

  We had such a great time at Lake Karapiro Lodge. The room and views were gorgeous. And Ed and Ann were wonderful hosts! They made coffee and breakfast to-order every morning for each guest, and we truly enjoyed conversation with them and the other guests around the breakfast table. It was a very different, and welcome, experience after more than a week of city hotels. WiFi was a bit touch-and-go, but so was 4G. It seems like the area in general doesn't have great reception, but we were still able to get things done that we needed, like bookings for later in our trip. We highly recommend this Lodge for anyone who is unsure- it was a perfect place to get away from the city!

  Beautiful lodge with wonderfully hospitable hosts.

  We had a wonderful two night stay. Ann, Ed and Michael really looked after us and everyone there. Breakfast is great. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The views are breathtaking. Highly recommended.

  Perfect!

  I booked a 3 night stay over the long weekend as an anniversary present for my partner, with a Hobbiton Evening Banquet Tour booked alongside. Other than that, I planned to not do a lot, to just relax and unwind from our busy lifestyles. Lake Karapiro Lodge delivered the trifecta, peaceful, picturesque and perfect! Ann and Ed were super lovely and welcoming. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast each morning, with superb coffees and great conversation. The view from our room was gorgeous, the lodge itself was beautifully designed by the two, and inside the lodge was a gorgeous set up of old English style decor. We played games in the room and in the shared tea/coffee room, swam in the pool, sunbathed in the loungers and drank wine on our little patio. We ate a yummy 3 course meal on our final night garlic prawns, lamb rack and apple crumble. We were in such awe of the two doing almost everything themselves and would love to be able to have a place like theirs and do what they do one day! I hope to go back one day, as we had such an amazing time. They really do go above and beyond
