    Worst checkin experience ever!!!!!!!

The worst checkin experience ever in a Marriott worldwide... in Japan nonetheless!!! The local tiny business hotel offers better service than this so called Marriott hotel. Checked in as a Titanium Elite and was offered one free drink, no upgrade, no late check out.. wtf? Not even a thank you for being an elite member... this is the absolute worst Marriott hotel service I have ever experienced anywhere! wasnt sure what the benefit of being an elite bonvoy member is... service is absolutely horrible! I will be sending in a formal letter to exec to get the guy who checked us in a few words (Mr. Fumiyo) you need to find a new profession my friend.. the hotel service just aint for you... gfy!

Good timing to stay (Go to travel35% off )

Go To 1 1 3 One night stay in this hotel and we used the Go To Travel campaign and gold member of Marriott. We booked Superior room but upgrade to Deluxe( 40sqm/430sqft 1 King and Sofa bed, Lake view) That room was spacious and had a wonderful view of the lake. Swimming pool for free no one in the pool when we were there and Japanese style of hot springs was okay. One girl using her smart phone at the hot springs changing room. She has no manners at all. I felt very uncomfortable. Dinner was nice we enjoyed it but breakfast was just okay but coffee was not good. Overall quite a good hotel. Coming here in winter would surely be worth seeing the snow capped mountains from nearby.

    Mediocre food, terrible wifi

For such a large hotel trying to be entry-level luxury, this property has a long way to go. There is only one restaurant and with little else in the near area, most guests have no choice but to eat in the hotel. Initially, we were told the restaurant was fully booked for the night but after pressing the hotel, I obtained a table in a room hastily set up to handle the overflow. If you dont want to order a course, the a la carte menu is extremely limited, with a strange selection of quasi-Japanese and quasi-Western dishes. I would not eat there again, but the front desk said there is no where else in the area, so buying food on the way to to the hotel is probably a better choice. The wifi was the worse that I have ever seen in a Marriott hotel and was barely usable anywhere on property. The gym is closed although there is a small pool open. Breakfast is buffet-style, which is quite unusual in the pandemic, but the hotel requires guests to wear gloves and masks when visiting the buffet. The quality of the breakfast buffet is barely acceptable, with most dishes average at best. The room is fine with a good view but overall not worth the experience.

    No Recommendation From Us

Kyoto was full, so booked here, only 30 minutes away. If you arrive after dark you will miss the lake view which is the only thing here, dirty windows and all. Because of Covid-19 no kids' room, no sports gym, the front lobby was closed, the hotel shop is so tiny we finished in 2 minutes flat. So went to the public bath, very cramped quarters, many people (nothing else to do) but it was the color of the public bath that grossed me out, so blackish, never have I seen that color in Japan of 40+ years... Many people complained about the restaurant but I thought it was the only thing that was good. Separate review.
